BOURBON HOT DOGS
I got this grownup hot dog recipe from a girl I attend church with. They were always gone in no time at family functions. You need to let them sit for a day or two to take on the flavor, and inexpensive hot dogs are key here.... they make a better product!

BOURBON BISCUITS
Add some colour to classic bourbon biscuits using pink food colouring. Kids will love piping the filling - and eating them afterwards of course!

Steps:
- Beat the butter and sugar together until creamy, then mix in the rest of the ingredients. Add a splash of milk if the mixture looks a bit dry - it should come together as a dough.
- Line three baking sheets, dust lightly with flour, then roll and pat one-third of the dough out to the thickness of a £1 coin on each. Cover and freeze for 15 mins.
- Heat oven to 180C/160C fan/gas 4. Slide the dough off the trays and put a new piece of parchment on each. Trim the edges of the dough to straighten, then cut into rectangles, roughly 6 x 3cm. Lift each one carefully onto the tray, leaving some space between them as they'll expand. Bourbons usually have a pricked pattern, so use a cocktail stick to do this if you want (not too many or they'll break up). Put the dough back in the freezer if it gets too soft.
- Bake for 8-10 mins, then leave to cool on the sheet as the biscuits will be soft when they're hot. Sprinkle over some sugar. Will keep for a week in an airtight container.
- Meanwhile, make the filling. Beat the butter and icing sugar together, then divide the mixture into three. Add the cocoa to one lot, a dot of pink colour to another, and leave the last one plain (add a little more icing sugar if you need to). Spoon each into a piping bag or a sandwich bag with the corner snipped off.
- When the biscuits have cooled completely, pipe the icings onto half of them, then sandwich together with the other halves. Leave to set.

BOURBON SIDECARS
Steps:
- To sugar the glass rims, pour the juice of 1 lemon into a shallow bowl and put the sugar on a small plate. Dip the rim of 4 highball glasses first in the lemon juice and then in the sugar. Set them aside to dry.
- In a small bowl, combine the dried cherries with 4 ounces of the bourbon and microwave on high for 60 seconds. Set aside.
- Combine the 6 ounces of lemon juice with the remaining 8 ounces of bourbon, the Grand Marnier, and 1 tablespoon of the marinated cherry liquid.
- Fill a cocktail shaker three-quarters full with ice and pour in the cocktail mixture. Shake the mixer for a full 30 seconds (it's longer than you think!) and strain into the prepared glasses either straight up or over ice. Thread 3 or 4 marinated cherries on each of 4 small skewers and serve each drink ice cold with a skewer of cherries.

- The Bourbon Sour. It won’t come as a surprise to hear that a classic whiskey or bourbon sour recipe includes plenty of lemon juice. That said, there is sugar in the mix, too, to keep this from being out of balance.
- Whiskey Smash. This cocktail is like a cross between a whiskey sour and a mint julep. It gets the name from the fact that you need to muddle or smash the mint with sugar and lemon.
- Best Bourbon Old-Fashioned. The old-fashioned can be traced way back to 1806 and is one of the very first recorded definitions of the cocktail. Traditionally made with sugar, bitters, water, and a decent glug of bourbon or whiskey, it’s the kind of drink you take your time to make and then sip, rather than devour in one mouthful.
- Classic Bourbon Manhattan Cocktail. The Manhattan is a straightforward cocktail made using three ingredients and a lot of love. It’s intense, rich, and full of bourbon flavor.
- The Revolver Cocktail. This cocktail was created in San Francisco by a bartender with a few too many bottles of Bulleit bourbon. Since it was an unknown brand, he wanted to create something new to help it sell.
- Mint Julep. Did you know that the mint julep is the drink of the Kentucky Derby and that over 120,000 cocktails are served over that one weekend each year?
- Classic Hot Toddy. As the weather gets colder, the last thing I want at night is a glass full of ice. Even with warm alcohol, like bourbon, it’s just too cold to enjoy.
- Ginger Rabbit. Other than the inclusion of ginger, I could not find out why this is called a ginger rabbit. Any ideas? This cocktail is surprisingly complex, and it’s so much more than just ginger, lemon, and bourbon.
- Black Demure. There’s nothing demure about this bourbon cocktail. Instead, the name refers to the use of Crème de mûre, a vibrant blackberry liqueur.
- Bourbon Sidecar. Traditional sidecars are made with Cognac and citrus. They’re sweet, and tart and are known to be a lighter version of the whiskey sour.

- Paradise Apple. Whiskey and cider are always great together, but as bourbon cocktail recipes go, this one is truly a stunner. Bartender Lynnette Marrero layers bourbon, cider, dry riesling, and a touch of floral liqueur for a cocktail that's sophisticated and bright.
- Newton's Law. Here's an easy option: Bourbon, lemon, brown sugar, and storebought apple butter. The flavor is pure fall. Get This Recipe.
- Thunderer. This spicy bourbon drink comes from bartender Christiaan Röllich's book, Bar Chef. Ginger, chile de árbol, and fresh grapefruit are wonderful together.
- Boulevardier. This relative of the Negroni is especially great in cooler weather. You can make it with your favorite bourbon—or rye. Get This Recipe.
- Old Pepper. In this drink from Alba Huerta's Julep, bourbon and turbinado syrup (made from Sugar in the Raw) meet savory Worcestershire sauce and Crystal hot sauce.
- Turmeric Hot Toddy. This golden-hued hot toddy from Claire Sprouse of Brooklyn’s Hunky Dory is wonderfully savory from the combination of Amontillado sherry and earthy turmeric.
- Manhattan. Treat yourself to a nice jar of cherries and stir yourself this classic cocktail, made with whiskey and sweet vermouth. Get This Recipe.
- Manhattans By the Pitcher. Think of this as the cocktail equivalent of meal planning. You can mix your batch of bitters, vermouth, and bourbon and keep it in the fridge or freezer, then just stir as many drinks as you need with ice.
- Bourbon Fruit Tea Punch. Bourbon meets black tea, orange juice, pineapple, and lemon in this simple punch. Garnish with lemon wheels and mint sprigs to help it feel festive.
