BREAKFAST BISCUITS

- For the biscuits: Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F.
- Whisk together the flour, powdered milk, baking powder, sugar, cream of tartar, salt and cayenne pepper in a medium bowl. Using a pastry cutter, cut the butter bits and shortening into the dry mixture until blended thoroughly. Mix in the cheese, then fold in the buttermilk until the dough comes together.
- On a lightly floured surface, turn out the dough and press into a circle 1 to 1 1/2 inches thick. Cut out circles with a biscuit cutter or a glass. Place the biscuits in cast-iron skillets, then brush the tops with the melted butter. Bake until golden brown, 10 to 12 minutes, then set aside to cool a little.
- For the sandwiches: Next, add the sausage patties to a skillet over medium heat and fry until cooked through. Set aside and keep warm. In the same skillet, fry the eggs, turning them over to cook the yolks through.
- Now make a sandwich by cutting a biscuit in half. Put a sausage patty on the bottom half. Top with an egg, some hot sauce and a slice of cheese. Cover with the top and eat, or wrap in foil to keep warm.
EASY BREAK-APART BUTTERY BISCUITS
Inspired by a Better Homes and Gardens recipe, a Cracker Barrel copycat recipe, and my own curiousity and love for butter, these biscuits are perfect for sandwiches or biscuits and jam. No need to split them with a butter knife since the butter inside pre-splits them in the oven as they bake, leaving a perfect two-piece biscuit with a soft, fluffy, buttery interior.

Steps:
- Preheat oven to 450 degrees Farenheit.
- Mix flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder.
- Cut in 4 tablespoons margarine and all shortening using a pastry blender, two knives, or a fork.
- Add milk all at once.
- Mix thoroughly.
- Chill in the refrigerator for a few minutes for easier shaping if you wish.
- Pat out dough to about 1/8-1/4 inch thick on a lightly floured surface.
- Using a 1/2 cup measuring cup, cut out five pieces of dough and place in baking pan, floured side up. (This should be half of your dough.).
- Melt margarine in the microwave and brush lightly over tops of dough in pan (You should have quite a bit left over).
- Cut out five more pieces of dough, regrouping dough as necessary, and place them on top of buttered dough pieces, floured side down.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until no longer doughy.

BREAKAWAY BISCUIT BREAD
I have even added grated cheddar cheese in this too, use more or less bacon if desired and use more onion if you so wish to, please use only butter it tastes better --- this is wonderful to serve at the table if you have company over for dinner.

Steps:
- Set oven to 350 degrees.
- Lightly grease a 10-inch tube pan.
- Cut biscuits into quarters (4 pieces, use a scissors to make it easier!).
- Dip all pieces lightly in melted butter to coat.
- Place one-third of the biscuits all around into bottom of prepared pan.
- Sprinkle with half of the bacon, Parmesan cheese, onion and green pepper over the biscuits.
- Repeat.
- Top with last third of dipped biscuits.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes.
- Delicious.
