This recipe is easy and foolproof. It makes a very soft and tasty loaf of bread with a flaky crust.

1 cup warm water (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
2 tablespoons white sugar
1 (.25 ounce) package bread machine yeast
¼ cup vegetable oil
3 cups bread flour
1 teaspoon salt

Steps:

  • Place the water, sugar and yeast in the pan of the bread machine. Let the yeast dissolve and foam for 10 minutes. Add the oil, flour and salt to the yeast. Select Basic or White Bread setting, and press Start.

1/2 cup wheat flour
2 cups bread flour
1 1/2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt

2 teaspoons cinnamon
2 teaspoons nutmeg
2 teaspoons yeast

Steps:

  • Follow your machine instructions, mine starts with the water first. Add the wheat and rye flour next, with the yeast as the last item.
  • Set the machine for wheat bread, light or medium crust, 1.5lb loaf size.

1/3 cup walnuts, chopped
1/3 cup pecans, chopped
1/3 cup almonds, chopped
1/2 cup oats
1 1/3 cups mixed dried fruit
1 1/2 cups bread flour
1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
1 1/2 teaspoons vital wheat gluten
2 1/2 teaspoons yeast

Steps:

  • Coarsely grind nuts in blender. Put all ingredients in order listed into the breadmaker. Set the breadmaker to "whole wheat" cycle.
