QUICK AND EASY FRENCH TOAST
Wake up to an irresistibly delicious breakfast that's super quick and easy to whip up using a few basic ingredients you likely already have in your kitchen. This French toast recipe soaks thick slices of bread in a mixture of milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and an egg before tossing each slice in a frying pan. Fluffy and tender on the inside and perfectly golden-brown on the outside, making French toast is one of our favorite - and most indulgent! - breakfast dishes. You can use any bread you have left over from the week to make this breakfast treat, but we especially love the density of sourdough, challah and brioche French toast. Drizzle with maple syrup and customize with different toppings like strawberries, blueberries, and honey butter for a scrumptious breakfast that's perfect for Easter brunch. BEST BRIOCHE FRENCH TOAST
Probably the best French toast ever. Finishing it in the oven ensures that even thick slices are not runny or underdone. Browned butter also adds a nutty, caramel twist to the usual maple goodness.

BLINTZ BAKED FRENCH TOAST
The perfect make-ahead brunch, this casserole has the flavors of a blintz in French toast form. Instead of the more traditional cottage cheese, creamy ricotta goes into the custard poured on top of the challah, and everything is baked until crisp on the outside and pillowy on the inside. This recipe comes from Molly Yeh, the host of the cooking show Girl Meets Farm.

Steps:
- Preheat the oven to 350˚F (180˚C).
- Stack three pieces of bread on top of each other and use a rolling pin to flatten. Trim the crusts, then separate the individual slices. Repeat with the remaining bread.
- In a medium bowl, combine the cream cheese, ⅓ cup (65 g) granulated sugar, and the lemon zest. Mix well, then set aside.
- In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the the milk, cream, brown sugar, eggs, vanilla, nutmeg, and 2 teaspoons of cinnamon. Set aside.
- Using an offset spatula, spread about 2 teaspoons of the cream cheese filling across a slice of flattened bread. Top with 1 teaspoon of strawberry preserves and spread across the bread. Spread 11 more slices of bread with the cream cheese filling and strawberry preserves, then repeat with the blueberry preserves and raspberry preserves.
- Starting from the bottom, tightly roll up each slice of bread, then place seam-side down so they stay closed.
- In a small bowl, mix together the remaining 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar and remaining 3 teaspoons of cinnamon.
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set a 3-inch (7.5 cm) wide bowl in the center of the pan.
- Dip each roll up in the custard, allowing any excess to drip off. Arrange 12 roll ups around the bowl on the prepared baking sheet. Brush all over with custard and sprinkle with the cinnamon sugar. Repeat stacking, brushing, and sprinkling with the remaining roll ups. Remove the bowl from the center of the ring.
- Bake the French toast ring for 22-25 minutes, until golden brown.
- Replace the bowl in the center of the ring and fill with the maple syrup. Dust the ring with the powdered sugar. Garnish with strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries.

From foodnetwork.com
Author Food Network KitchenPublished 2015-10-03
- Choose Your Bread and Slice it Thickly. For particularly fluffy, custardy French toast, select bread like brioche or challah. For something with a little more structure, go for a country-style bread.
- Make the Batter. Our recipe for The Best French Toast includes a fantastic ingredient ratio: 10 large eggs, 2 cups of half-and-half and 1/4 cup of light brown sugar to soak one whole loaf of bread.
- Soak the Toast In the Batter. Add several slices of bread to the egg mixture and soak them until they just absorb the mixture and feel heavy but don’t fall apart — 30 seconds to one minute per side should do it.
- Cook the French Toast in Batches. While you soak the bread, melt 1 tablespoon of butter in a large nonstick skillet over medium-low heat. Cook two of the soaked bread slices until they’re deep golden brown, the custard has set and the insides are cooked through, 4 to 5 minutes a side.
- Get Creative With Your Toppings. Although maple syrup, butter and powdered sugar are classic ways to finish off your French toast (and there’s nothing wrong with going classic), you can also top your creation with sliced fresh fruit.
