3 to 4 pounds boneless country-style pork ribs
1 can (20 ounces) pineapple tidbits, undrained
2 cans (8 ounces each) tomato sauce
1/2 cup thinly sliced onion
1/2 cup thinly sliced green pepper
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup cider vinegar
1/4 cup tomato paste
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 garlic clove, minced
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 tablespoon cold water

Steps:

  • Place ribs in an ungreased 5-qt. slow cooker. Combine the next 11 ingredients; pour over ribs. Cook, covered, on low until meat is tender, 8-10 hours., To make sauce, transfer cooking juices to a small saucepan; bring to a boil. Meanwhile, in a small bowl, combine cornstarch and water until smooth; stir into juices. Return to a boil, stirring constantly; cook and stir until thickened, 1-2 minutes. Serve with ribs.

½ cup sweet chili sauce

1 envelope onion soup mix
¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes
¼ teaspoon onion powder

Steps:

  • Place short ribs in the crock of a slow cooker; season with salt and pepper.
  • Combine water, preserves, chili sauce, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, rice wine vinegar, honey, onion soup mix, red pepper flakes, onion powder, garlic powder, cinnamon, and ginger in a jar with a tight-fitting lid. Seal jar and shake until ingredients are well mixed; pour over the ribs, assuring all ribs are covered in sauce.
  • Cook on Low until the meat is fork-tender, 6 to 9 hours (or on High for 3 to 6 hours).

My Mom's longtime recipe that she learned from my grandmother who has long passed on. Combines soy sauce, sugar, vinegar, dry mustard, garlic, as well as a few other simple ingredients to make a delicious sauce for sweet and sour cut ribs. Great over rice! Some say rice and this sauce is their favorite food! A Lechner family tradition!

1 cup white sugar
¼ cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon pepper
½ teaspoon dry mustard
2 cups water
½ cup soy sauce
½ cup vinegar
2 pounds pork spareribs, cut into bite size pieces
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
2 cloves garlic, chopped

Steps:

  • In a bowl, mix the sugar, flour, salt, pepper, and mustard. Stir in the water, soy sauce, and vinegar.
  • Place the ribs in a pot with enough water to cover. Bring to a boil, cook 10 minutes, and drain.
  • Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat, and brown the ribs on all sides. Mix in the sauce mixture. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to low, and simmer 30 minutes. Mix in the garlic, and continue cooking 15 minutes, or to desired doneness.

6 pounds pork spareribs or pork baby back ribs
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1 cup ketchup
2/3 cup cider vinegar
1/2 cup cold water

Steps:

  • Place ribs on a rack in a large shallow roasting pan. Bake, uncovered, at 350° for 1-1/2 hours. , Meanwhile, in a small saucepan, combine the sugar, brown sugar, cornstarch, ketchup, vinegar and water until smooth. Bring to a boil. 8 pounds beef short ribs, cut across the bone
2 garlic cloves
1 bay leaf
1 cup ketchup
1 cup pineapple juice
1/2 cup soy sauce
3 tablespoons honey
2 tablespoons oyster sauce, bottled
1/2 tablespoon chile paste
2 teaspoons granulated garlic
2 slices lemon
2 slices orange
4 scallions, chopped
1 (2-inch) slice fresh ginger
1 red bell pepper, roasted and seeds removed, chopped
2 Camomile tea bags
4 tablespoons sesame seeds

Steps:

  • Fill a large stockpot with water and bring to a boil. Add the ribs, garlic cloves and bay leaf. Parboil the ribs, covered, for 45 minutes to 1 hour, until fork tender. In the meantime, make the sauce.
  • In a medium saucepan, combine all ingredients, except sesame seeds. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, for approximately 15 minutes until the sauce has thickened and is heated through. Place a strainer over a bowl and pour the sauce through it to remove the solids. Add the ribs to the bowl of sauce, turning with tongs to well coat. Arrange the ribs in a single layer on a cookie sheet and pour a ladle full of sauce over the ribs so they are well covered. Sprinkle with sesame seeds. Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 20 to 30 minutes. Serve with remaining sauce on the side.

While technically this should serve 4, I usually double it just to have enough for the 3 (or more like 2 1/2, since DS is little) of us plus a little leftover for a lunch. We just love it that much!

1 1/2-2 lbs beef short ribs, 3-4 inch lengths, separated (also called plate or chuck ribs)
flour
salt & pepper
1 onion, sliced and separated into rings
3/4 cup ketchup
2 tablespoons cider vinegar
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
4 tablespoons soy sauce
1/4-1/2 cup brown sugar
3/4 cup water

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350* F.
  • Rinse ribs to remove any bone fragments and pat dry. Combine flour, salt, and pepper in a large Ziplock bag; add ribs and shake until well coated.
  • Lay ribs in a roasting pan or casserole (at least 2 inches deep). Top with onion rings.
  • To make sauce, combine remaining ingredients and mix well. Pour sauce evenly over ribs and onions.
  • Cover and bake at 350* F for 2 1/2-3 hours or until ribs are very tender. Serve with onions and sauce.

flour (for dredging)
1/4 cup margarine or 1/4 cup oil
2 onions, sliced
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 1/2 cups water
1 bay leaf
1/4 cup vinegar
3 tablespoons brown sugar
1/3 cup ketchup
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Steps:

  • Dredge ribs in flour.
  • Melt margarine in dutch oven and brown ribs on all sides.
  • Remove from pan and drain.
  • Saute onion and garlic til tender.
  • Combine other ingredients and add.
  • Return ribs to pan.
  • Cover and simmer for 2 1/2 hours, longer if necessary.

Steps:

  • Pre heat oven to 350
  • Cream butter with Splenda, sugar blend
  • Add eggs & vanilla, beat well
  • Sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda, & sea salt
  • Add to creamed mixture alternately with sour cream
  • Fold in the mashed bananas
  • Spray a 13X9 baking pan with Pam
  • Pour the batter into the pan

1 teaspoon(s) ground ginger
1 3/4 cup(s) water
1/3 cup(s) soy sauce, low sodium
1/2 cup(s) rice wine vinegar
2 cup(s) crushed pineapple

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400
  • Spray a baking dish with Pam, place ribs in pann, sprinkle with seasonings
  • Bake at 400 for 30 minutes, pour off excess fat. Reduce heat to 350 bake 20 minutes longer, pour off excess fat.
  • In a saucepan dissolve splenda cornstarch and ginger in water
  • Add soy sauce and vinegar. Cook until sauce thickens, stirring frequently
  • Stir in pineapple and bring to a boil. After sauce come to a boil remove from heat
  • Pour sauce over ribs
  • Bake at 350 for 90 minutes basting occasionally
  • Skim off excess fat before serving
