Captain Crunch Peanut Butter Puppy Chow image

Puppy Chow gets a peanut butter makeover with a childhood classic cereal!

Number Of Ingredients 7

4 1/2 cups Peanut Butter Captain Crunch
4 1/2 cups Captain Crunch, regular
1 cup peanut butter chips, divided
1/2 cup chocolate chips, dairy free if needed
4 tablespoon butter
1/2 cup smooth, natural peanut butter
2 cups organic powdered sugar

Steps:

  • Melt 1/2 cup peanut butter chips, milk chocolate chips, and butter together in a double broiler or in the microwave on 50% power until chips are melted and butter is fully incorporated.
  • Stir in peanut butter.
  • Place cereal in a large bowl and pour chocolate mixture over. Gently stir to coat all of the cereal. Once all coated add the powdered sugar and stir gently again to fully coat all the cereal. [i](You can also do this in a large plastic/paper bag.)[/i]
  • Once cooled add in extra peanut butter chips and Serve!

Steps:

  • Melt the peanut butter with the butter or margarine and the milk chocolate. Pour over the cereal and toss until well coated.
  • Place the coated cereal in a large paper sack then add the confectioners' sugar, fold down the top of the bag and shake to coat.

1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

⅓ cup confectioners' sugar for decoration

Steps:

  • Put cereal in a large mixing bowl. Melt the butter or margarine, chocolate chips and peanut butter together. Pour over cereal and stir gently. Let cool.
  • Once cool place coated cereal in a large bag add some confectioners' sugar and shake until coated.

I've looked through all the "puppy chow" recipes on Zaar and didn't find this one. It's a bit different and VERY delicious, and only 5 ingredients! Try it and tell me what you think.

5 cups peanut butter Captain Crunch cereal
5 cups Rice Krispies
3 cups miniature marshmallows
3 cups mixed nuts
1 1/2 lbs white chocolate

Steps:

  • Carefully combine first four ingredients in large bowl or roaster pan.
  • Place white chocolate (cut into chunks) in microwaveable dish.
  • Cook on high for 1 minute, stir, then again for 1 minute. Continue this until all the chocolate is melted.
  • Pour over mixture and gently stir.
  • Spread out on waxed paper.
  • After it cools and hardens, break into pieces and store in covered, sealed containers.
  • Preparation time includes microwaving time.

1/2 cup sunbutter sunflower seed butter (smooth or crunchy)
1/2 cup butter
6 cups perky o's cereal
2 cups powdered sugar

Steps:

  • 1. Melt chocolate chips, Sunbutter and butter together in microwave on high for 1-1 ½ minutes. Stir after 1 minute.
  • 2. In a large mixing bowl, pour melted mixture over Perky O's and mix until coated.
  • 3. Put powdered sugar in large ziploc or paper bag and add cereal mix. Shake until coated.
  • 4. Place on cookie sheet to dry. Then, enjoy!
  • *TIP Dairy-free option: use 1/2 cup EarthBalance margarine (contains soy) or Spectrum shortening in place of butter.
