WHITE SANGRIA



White Sangria image

This sangria takes five to 10 minutes to assemble in a large pitcher. Take the time to prepare it in the morning so the sangria has several hours to develop its fruity flavor. Pull it out when dinner is ready to serve that evening.

3 tablespoons sugar
3 shots Calvados or other apple liquor
1 lime, sliced
1 lemon, sliced
2 ripe peaches, cut into wedges
3 ripe green apples seeded and cut into wedges
1 bottle white Rioja Spanish wine or other dry white wine
1 pint raspberries
Sparkling soda water, for topping off glasses of sangria at table

Steps:

  • Combine sugar, Calvados, lime, lemon, peaches and apples in a large pitcher. Cover with 1 bottle of Rioja wine and chill sangria several hours. To serve, spoon fruits into glasses or goblets, adding a few fresh raspberries in each glass, pour wine over top of the fruit. Top glasses of sangria off with a splash of soda water and serve.

Steps:

1 large Granny Smith apple, halved and thinly sliced
1/2 cup fresh or frozen cranberries
1/2 cup whiskey
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup lemon juice
1/4 cup lime juice
2 bottles (750 milliliters each) sweet white wine
1 bottle (750 milliliters) cranberry wine or 3-1/4 cups cranberry juice
Ice cubes
6 cups cold pineapple soda

Steps:

  • In a large pitcher, combine the first six ingredients; let stand 30 minutes. Stir in wines. Refrigerate, covered, at least 30 minutes or until cold. , To serve, fill each glass halfway with ice; add 1/2 cup wine mixture. Top each with 1/4 cup pineapple soda.

1 (6 ounce) jar maraschino cherries (undrained)
1/2 cup orange juice
2 tablespoons lemon juice

2 (10 ounce) bottles club soda (chilled) or 2 (10 ounce) bottles carbonated lemon-lime beverage (chilled)

Steps:

  • In a lrg pitcher, combine cherry juice blend, maraschino cherries w/their liquid, orange juice & lemon juice. Mix well. Add orange & lemon slices. Cover & refrigerate 2-3 hours.
  • Before serving, add club soda or lemon-lime carbonated beverage of choice & stir gently.
  • Serve over ice in tall glasses. Garnish w/additional maraschino cherries &/or orange slices as desired.

Bing cherries, limes, watermelon, white wine, and rum join together to make a refreshing, uber-drinkable summer sangria.

3 cups watermelon balls (or approx. 3/4-inch chunks)
2 cups bing cherries (halved and pitted)
3 limes (thinly sliced)
1 lemon (thinly sliced)
1 750 ml bottle white wine (a dry-ish white wine is best - I like Sauvignon Blanc)
1/2 cup white rum
4 cups lemon-lime soda

Steps:

  • Add watermelon to a large pitcher, then the cherries, then the limes, then the lemons.
  • Pour the wine and rum over the top.
  • Cover and place in the refrigerator for 4 - 5 hours.
  • Remove from refrigerator and add the lemon lime soda. Add a few pieces of the fruit to your glass along with ice (if desired), and pour sangria over to serve.
  • Keeps for about 24 hours in the refrigerator; just be sure to add the lemon-lime soda right before serving.

1/2 cup superfine sugar 

6 slices (1/8 inch thick) peeled fresh ginger
4 ounces vodka
10 ounces cherries, pitted and halved (2 cups)
3 nectarines, pitted and sliced 1/2 inch thick
2 bottles (750 mL each) dry white wine, such as Sauvignon Blanc, chilled
Ice

Steps:

  • Combine sugar and 1/2 cup water in a small pot. Bring to a boil, and stir until sugar dissolves. Remove syrup from heat, and let cool.
  • Combine syrup and ginger, and muddle. Add vodka, cherries, and nectarines. Let macerate at least 3 hours at room temperature or up to 8 hours in the refrigerator.
  • Add wine, and stir. Serve over ice.
