CEREAL TREATS I
This version has no chocolate topping, but it would be easy to melt chocolate chips and spread them over the top. We have a nut allergy in our family and I omit the peanut butter and substitute 1/2 cup of butterscotch chips melted with the margarine instead.

Steps:
- Line an 8-by-8-inch baking dish with enough foil so that there's a 2-inch overhang on all sides. Grease the foil with butter.
- Melt 2 tablespoons of the butter in a large pot over medium heat. Add half of the marshmallows and cook, stirring occasionally, until the marshmallows melt completely, about 5 minutes. Remove from the heat and stir in 1/2 teaspoon of the vanilla and a small pinch of salt. Add the crispy rice cereal and stir with a rubber spatula, making sure to scrape up the bottom, until the cereal is completely coated. Transfer to the prepared baking dish and pat down into an even layer (use the bottom of a measuring cup to help).
- Clean the pot out and repeat the process with the remaining butter, marshmallows, 1/2 teaspoon vanilla, fruit flavored cereal flakes, dried fruit and a small pinch of salt. Spoon the mixture directly on top of the puffed rice cereal and pat down into an even layer. Let sit at room temperature until firm, about 30 minutes.
- Cut into 25 small squares. Store at room temperature in an airtight container for up to 3 days.

CRISPY CEREAL TREATS
For a no-bake treat just right for lunchboxes or after school, try this fun twist on a childhood favorite that goes beyond the usual "Snap, Crackle, and Pop" blueprint and plays with other great combinations found in the cereal aisle. Each of the four variations uses the same marshmallow base-whether you want to use the mix-ins to take it in a chocolatey, tropical, or fruity direction is entirely up to you!

BLACK & WHITE CEREAL TREATS
When my daughter was just 7 years old, she had the brilliant idea of adding Oreo cookies to cereal treats. Now an adult, she still asks for them on occasion; they're that good. -Tammy Phoenix, Ava, Illinois

- Oatmeal Balls. I like these little balls. The reason is that it doesn’t take a lot of them to keep your chickens happy. They are made of all-natural ingredients that most of us have around the house for baking purposes.
- Fruit and Yogurt Parfaits. I love fruit and yogurt parfaits. Well, guess what? So will your chickens. They are able to eat a lot of fruits and vegetables without facing adverse effects of them and dairy is very similar.
- Left Overs. Not everything we eat is always healthy. However, if you eat a healthy meal around your table and have some left then go ahead and toss it to your chickens.
- Meal Worms. Mealworms are a great snack that is packed with protein for your chickens. They are also a very budget-friendly snack considering you can raise them yourself.
- Watermelon. Chickens love fruits, especially watermelon. I think it’s because the fruit is mainly made up of water so it keeps them hydrated and cool during a hot day with the extreme juiciness of it.
- Egg Shells. Eggshells are actually a treat to chickens. The reason is they love the calcium they get from them. Which makes this treat very easy and affordable.
- Flock Block. This recipe is great and seems to be fairly inexpensive to make. The best part about this block is that it is healthy for your chickens and also appears to be a way to keep them from being bored.
- Pumpkin Seed Treat. This pumpkin treat is very simple. You will cut a pumpkin into chunks. Then you’ll put the chunks into the food processor. When that is complete and well pureed, then you’ll mix a little of their feed in with it and give the pumpkin seed puree to your birds.
- Molt Meatloaf. When your chickens go into molt they need a treat. Really, they probably feel like they need a hug (but I wouldn’t suggest it due to the loss of feathers.)
- Apple Garland. This apple garland idea is really cute and one that your chickens are sure to love. The lady who does this just slices and cores the apples.
