GINGER LEMON ICED TEA

Ginger Lemon Iced Tea image

Ginger Lemon Iced Tea - so so refreshing! With the sour lemon, strong ginger and paired with a little bit of mint, it's Summer in a glass.

Provided by Stine Mari | Ginger with Spice

Categories     Drinks

Time 5m

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 liter boiled water, 4 cups
4 black tea bags, e.g. Earl Grey
2 sprigs mint
1 tablespoon ginger, grated
1 lemon, juice and zest (divided)
4 tablespoon honey, or to taste

Steps:

  • Boil 1 liter of water and pour into a heat resistant mug, add in 4 bags of black tea.
  • Add in the zest* of one lemon, grate a knob of ginger and add two sprigs of mint. Muddle it a bit to release the juices. If you don't want such a strong ginger flavor, just don't grate it and slice it instead.
  • When lukewarm - add in honey and juice of one lemon. Remove the tea bags. Stir and give it a taste. Adjust amount of honey to your own liking.**
  • Run the iced tea through a sift to remove all zest and ginger pieces. Set in the refrigerator until it's cold. Serve with lemon slices, mint sprigs and ice cubes.

HONEY-LEMON GINGER TEA

Honey-Lemon Ginger Tea image

I visited a coffee shop in Hartford on a cold winter day and ordered their honey lemon ginger tea. It was tart, sweet, full of flavor, and warmed me from head to toe. The proprietor was nice enough to give me a rough description of her recipe. After a few tries at home, I came up with this close version.

COCONUT GINGER TEA WITH LIME, HONEY AND TURMERIC

Coconut Ginger Tea With Lime, Honey and Turmeric image

I love the fair trade teas produced by Zhena's Gypsy Tea, especially her Coconut Chai. Inspired by the perfume of coconut in that tea, I infused shredded coconut and ginger and added a little fresh lime juice, honey and a smidgeon of turmeric. The idea of making a turmeric and honey paste comes from Heidi Swanson's 101cookbooks.com.

Provided by Martha Rose Shulman

Categories     breakfast, lunch, quick, non-alcoholic drinks

Yield Serves 2

Number Of Ingredients 7

1/4 cup finely grated unsweetened coconut
2 to 3 teaspoons minced ginger
2 1/2 cups boiling water
Up to 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice, to taste
For each serving: 1 to 1 1/2 teaspoons honey or honey-turmeric paste (see below)
1/2 teaspoon turmeric
2 tablespoons honey

Steps:

  • Place the coconut and ginger in a large pyrex measuring cup or teapot and pour on the boiling water. Cover and allow to steep for 30 minutes or longer. Strain into another measuring cup, a bowl or a teapot and press the coconut against the strainer to extract all the flavorful liquid.
  • Reheat the infusion and pour into cups. Stir 1/2 to 1 teaspoon lime juice and 1 to 1 1/2 teaspoons honey or honey-turmeric paste into each cup.

LEMON-GINGER ICED TEA

Lemon-Ginger Iced Tea image

This Arnold Palmer has just a little kick to it because of the ginger. But it's so good! It's not intended to be a syrupy, sweet tea, so don't load it with sugar. Keep the taste of the ginger as the focal point.
