1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 cup butter, softened
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1-1/2 pkg. (4 oz. each) BAKER'S Semi-Sweet Chocolate (6 oz.), chopped
3/4 cup chopped pecans

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 375°F.
  • Combine flour, baking soda and salt. Beat butter and sugars in large bowl with mixer until light and fluffy. Blend in egg and vanilla. Gradually add flour mixture, mixing well after each addition. Stir in chocolate and nuts.
  • Spread onto bottom of seasoned 12-inch cast-iron skillet. (See tip.)
  • Bake 20 to 25 min. or until edge of cookie is golden brown and center is slightly puffed. Cool in skillet 30 min. before cutting into wedges to serve.

1 cup sugar
1 cup packed brown sugar
2 large eggs, room temperature
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
3 cups all-purpose flour
1-1/2 teaspoons baking soda
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1 cup 60% cacao bittersweet chocolate baking chips
1 cup chopped pecans, toasted
Vanilla ice cream, optional

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°. In a 12-in. cast-iron skillet, heat butter in oven as it preheats. Meanwhile, in a large bowl, stir together sugar and brown sugar. When butter is almost melted, remove skillet from oven and swirl butter until completely melted. Stir butter into sugar mixture; set skillet aside., Beat eggs and vanilla into sugar mixture. In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda and salt; gradually beat into sugar mixture. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts. Spread mixture into buttered skillet. , Bake until toothpick inserted in center comes out with moist crumbs and top is golden brown, 35-40 minutes. Serve warm, with vanilla ice cream if desired.

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2/3 teaspoon baking soda
Scant 1/4 teaspoon salt
11 tablespoons (1 stick + 3 tablespoons) salted butter, softened
1/3 cup sugar
1/2 cup firmly packed dark brown sugar
3/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 Jumbo egg
3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Lightly butter the bottom and about 3/4" up the sides of a 9" cast iron skillet. Set aside. In a bowl stir together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside. In another mixing bowl and using a hand mixer, beat together the softened butter, sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla until creamy. Beat in the egg until well blended. Gradually, beat in the flour mixture just until all is incorporated. Stir in the chocolate chips by hand. Spoon mixture into the skillet and spread out. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until lightly browned and center tests done with a wooden toothpick. Don't overbake or it will be crisp instead of chewy. Cool to lukewarm or room temperature in the skillet on a wire cooling rack.
