CHOCOLATE PEANUT BUTTER OATMEAL COOKIES (GIFT MIX IN A JAR)

Steps:

• Creating the Gift in a Jar:
• Wash and thoroughly dry a 1-quart wide-mouth canning jar.
• Layer the ingredients in the jar as listed above starting with the flour, salt, baking soda, baking powder, sugar, oatmeal, brown sugar, peanut butter chips and then chocolate chips - make sure to press firmly with a flat bottomed object after each addition; make the layers as level as possible.

• COOKIE INSTRUCTIONS:
• Preheat oven to 375.
• In a large bowl, blend the butter, egg and vanilla extract.

CHOCOLATE NO-BAKE OATMEAL AND PEANUT BUTTER COOKIES

Steps:

• In a saucepan, combine butter or margarine, cocoa, sugar and milk. Bring to a boil and boil 1 minute. Remove from heat and stir in peanut butter, oatmeal, vanilla extract and salt. Drop from a teaspoon onto waxed paper and allow to cool. Makes about 3 dozen.

OATMEAL PEANUT BUTTER CUP JAR COOKIES

Steps:

• Layer the ingredients into the jar in the order listed: oats, flour, brown sugar, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, peanuts, peanut butter cups. It is not necessary by any means, but it is helpful to have a canning funnel to get the ingredients into the jar. It makes far less mess. I take a spoon and spread the layer out to get even-ish lines on the jar.
• Wrap and give as a gift with the recipe and instructions included.
• To make the cookies, cream together butter and peanut butter. Add the eggs and vanilla.
• Take the peanut butter cups out of the jar. Peel off the wrappers and cut in half. Set aside. Pour in the remaining contents of the jar. Mix until combined.
• Add the peanut butter cups and mix again.
• Using an ice cream scoop, scoop the dough onto a parchment lined baking sheet.
• Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 12 to 14 minutes. Let cool for one minute and then transfer to a cooling rack to cool completely.

Steps:

• Mix together the flour, baking powder and baking soda. Set aside.
• Layer ingredients in order given in a 1 quart ''wide mouth'' canning jar. Press each layer firmly in place. It will be a tight fit. Add chopped peanut butter cups last.
• Attach these directions to Jar: Reese's Peanut Butter Cup Cookies 1. Remove peanut butter cups from jar. Set aside. 2. Empty remaining cookie mix into large mixing bowl. Use your hands to thoroughly blend mix. 3. Add 1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened at room temperature. DO NOT USE DIET MARGARINE. Add in 1 egg, slightly beaten, and 1 teaspoon vanilla. 4. Mix until completely blended. You will need to finish mixing with your hands. 5. Mix in peanut butter cups. 6. Shape into walnut sized balls. Place 2 inches apart on greased cookie sheets. 7. Bake at 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) for 12 to 14 minutes until edges are lightly browned. Cool 5 minutes on baking sheet. Remove cookies to racks to finish cooling. Makes 2 1/2 dozen cookies.

OATMEAL-CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES IN A JAR (FOR GIFT-GIVING)

Steps:

• Mix the flour together with the baking powder, baking soda and salt.
• Layer the ingredients in the glass jar (pressing each layer firmly in place before adding on the next layer).
• This is optional; push a small cinnamon stick into the side of the mixture (make certain that it is showing through the glass).

• Set oven to 350 degrees.
