How to Make a Starbucks Flat White image

You can make Starbucks Flat White coffee at home with this easy copycat recipe.

3 ounces espresso (2 shots)
1 cup milk (steamed)
sugar (to taste (optional))

Steps:

  • Prepare your espresso shots and pour them into a glass over the sugar (if desired).
  • Steam your milk and then using a frother, froth the milk for at least a minute. The key to making this drink is a microfoam.
  • Pour the hot frothy foamed milk over the espresso and enjoy!

  • Start by ordering a Grande Flat White
  • Ask for two Raw Sugars
  • Ask for cinnamon, cinnamon dolce, and nutmeg powder to be steamed in with the milk.
  • Ask for all three powders on top of the drink as well.

1 - 2 teaspoons tangerine sugar
1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon ground ginger
1/8 teaspoon ground cloves

Steps:

  • Prepare a tangerine sugar: Mix 1 cup granulated sugar with 1 tablespoon of finely grated tangerine zest.
  • Mix 1 to 2 teaspoons of the tangerine sugar (I use 1 1/2 teaspoons) with the cinnamon, ginger, and cloves. Place in the bottom of your coffee mug, pull a shot or two of espresso (ristretto espresso if you have the capability) over the spice mixture and swirl a couple of times, steam the milk with a microfoam and pour over the espresso without stirring directly in the center.
