This is an 'Americanized' version of that old standard, Shepherd's Pie. My family loves it! You can prepare your mashed potatoes as you normally would -- adding butter, milk, sour cream, whatever!

1 pound lean ground beef
½ cup chopped onion
½ cup chopped celery
1 (10.5 ounce) can condensed vegetable soup
½ teaspoon dried thyme
3 cups mashed cooked potatoes
1 cup shredded Colby longhorn cheese

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and lightly grease a 2 quart baking dish.
  • In a large skillet over medium-high heat, stir and cook ground beef, onion and celery until juices run clear. Drain. Pour mixture into baking dish with vegetable soup and thyme; stir well. Spread mashed potatoes on top.
  • Bake 20 minutes. Sprinkle shredded cheese on top and bake 5 minutes more, or until cheese has melted.

2-1/2 pounds potatoes, peeled and cooked
1 cup sour cream
Salt and pepper to taste
2 pounds ground beef
1/2 cup chopped onion
1 medium sweet red pepper, chopped
1 teaspoon garlic salt
1 can (10-3/4 ounces) condensed cream of mushroom soup, undiluted
1 can (16 ounces) whole kernel corn, drained
1/2 cup milk
2 tablespoons butter, melted
Chopped fresh parsley, optional

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°. In a large bowl, mash potatoes with sour cream. Add salt and pepper; set aside. In a large skillet, cook beef with onion and red pepper until meat is no longer pink and vegetables are tender; drain. Stir garlic salt into meat mixture. Stir in the soup, corn and milk. , Spread meat mixture into a 13x9-in. baking dish. Top with mashed potatoes; drizzle with butter. , Bake, uncovered, until heated through, 30-35 minutes. For additional browning, place under broiler for a few minutes. Sprinkle with parsley if desired.

2 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup KRAFT Shredded Cheddar Cheese, divided

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 375ºF.
  • Brown meat in large skillet; drain. Return meat to skillet. Add mixed vegetables and gravy; mix well.

We eat BIG in this house! For tonight's dinner it was a unanimous "Shepherd's Pie!" it's warm, filling, EASY, fast to make, cheap, and tastes great! How could I say no?

2 lb browned ground beef (sausage if you're feeling frisky)
2 can(s) cream of mushroom soup, undiluted
2 can(s) mixed vegetables
1 pkg grated cheese [your choice on type/amount]
1 box instant mashed potatoes

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat over to 375 degrees. Then brown your hamburger and make 6-8 servings of instant potatoes.
  • 2. Drain grease from hamburger then mix in mixed vegetables and cream of mushroom soup.
  • 3. pour meat/veggie/soup mix into a 13x9 inch pan and spread around evenly.
  • 4. spread grated cheese evenly over meat/veggie/soup mixture.
  • 5. spoon mashed potatoes evenly over cheese layer
  • 6. Add more grated cheese over mashed potatoes
  • 7. Cover with tin foil and bake for 30 minutes (long enough for it to melt the cheese and be hot through and through).
  • 8. We like to serve it with simple cornbread. Served with a big spoon or spatula. :)

1 medium onion, chopped
1 can (10 ounce size) cream of mushroom soup or beef gravy
chopped, cooked vegetables, optional (peas and carrots, mushrooms, etc)
salt and pepper, as needed
3 cups cooked mashed potatoes, or more if desired
2 tablespoons cold butter, cut in bits

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven broiler. Brown the ground beef and onion in a cast iron or other oven-proof skillet over medium-high heat. Drain off any excess grease. Stir the soup (or gravy) into the skillet. Mix well. Add any desired vegetables. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Remove the pan from the heat and spread the mashed potatoes over the top. Dot the top of the potatoes with the butter. Place the pan under the broiler and broil until browned. Serve hot.

3 tablespoons olive oil, divided
1 pound sliced fresh button mushrooms
1/2 pound coarsely chopped fresh oyster mushrooms
1/2 pound coarsely chopped fresh chanterelle mushrooms
1 large onion, thinly sliced
3 garlic cloves, minced
1/2 cup dry red wine or vegetable stock
1/2 cup vegetable stock
2 tablespoons minced fresh parsley
2 tablespoons minced fresh thyme
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon butter, softened
TOPPING:
6 medium red potatoes, cubed
1/4 cup 2% milk
2 to 4 tablespoons butter
1 teaspoon garlic powder
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
3/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese

  • Preheat oven to 425°. In a Dutch oven, heat butter and 2 tablespoons oil over medium-high heat. Add mushrooms; cook and stir 4-6 minutes or until browned. 1/2 teaspoon mustard powder

Steps:

  • Brown hamburger with onion.
