CROCK POT APPLE CRISP
I used a similar recipe on here but the topping was too doughy. So I tried it with oatmeal added to the top part and it was much better. And it added some oalmeal goodness.I used McIntosh apples because I like apples that cook down.

Steps:
- 1.Generously spray a crock pot with non stick cooking spray, line with apples. Sprinkle the white sugar and cinnamon over top.
- 2.Mix together flour, brown sugar, and oatmeal. Cut in butter with a pastry blender until you get pea size pieces of butter. in a bowl.
- 3. Cover the apples with this mixture.
- 4. Pack the flour-oatmeal-brown sugar-butter mixture. Cook on high for 3 hours.
- 5. Use a medium size crock pot to make this. Using a large crock pot will probably not work well as the ingredients will be too spread out and may burn around the edges.
- 6. Serve with vanilla ice cream.

Steps:
- Remove crockery pot from heating element and turn on the heat to high to preheat the unit for 15 minutes.
- In large mixing bowl, combine all ingredients except pie crust and stir until well mixed.
- Roll pie crust into a circle slightly larger than crockery pot (size of circle will vary depending on your crock pot) and place crust into bottom of the pot; the crust should come up the sides of the pot about 1 inch and can be folded down to make a thicker crust"lip" if desired.
- Spread apples and berries evenly over crust.
- In small bowl, blend topping ingredients then sprinkle the mixture evenly over the fruit.
- Place crockery pot into the preheated base.
- Cover with the lid and cook on high for 1- 1/2 hours or until apples are tender.
- Length of time depends on your crock pot, but leave the lid on the unit for at least 1 hour without removing it even once!
- This is important to keep the moist heat in the crock pot.
- Serve warm with ice cream and a dash of cinnamon.
- If you prefer a brown crust, cook the unfilled crust in the crock pot for 15 minutes before adding the fruit filling and topping.

Steps:
- Coat a 5- to 6-quart slow cooker with nonstick spray or line with a nonstick liner. In a large bowl, combine the oats, whole wheat flour, almonds (if using), cinnamon, and salt. Pour the melted butter and maple syrup over the top, then stir to evenly moisten.
- If using frozen berries, rinse them so that any large ice crystals are removed (the berries do not need to be completely thawed). Place in a large bowl, then stir together with the lemon juice, vanilla, and 1/2 tablespoon cornstarch (if using fresh berries) or 1 tablespoon cornstarch (if using frozen). Transfer to the prepared slow cooker, then sprinkle the oat mixture evenly over the top. Lightly coat the top of the crisp with nonstick spray.
- Lay a sheet of paper towel or kitchen towel over the top of the slow cooker so that it overhangs the sides and will stay in place once the slow cooker is covered**. (This absorbs moisture and helps the top to crisp). Cover and cook for 1 to 2 hours on high or 2 to 3 hours on low, until the fruit is bubbly and the top is browned. If your berries are still frozen, the cooking time may be longer. Serve warm, topped with vanilla ice cream, Greek yogurt, or whipped cream as desired.
