CROCK POT CANDY (MR. BUD'S CANDY)
I saw this on Just A Pinch Recipe Club, putting here for safe-keeping. It sounds like it would be good for Christmas time or for fund-raising events. Here is a note that was in the directions: If your crockpot appliance is below 275 watts, you should not have any problem with the candy burning if you follow the ingredients and the directions, however, all crockpots are different, so please pay attention to your cooking process. Look on the bottom of your appliance to see the wattage. The other note was too long to include here, so it's at the bottom of the recipe.

Steps:
- Put ingredients into a 4 or 5-quart crockpot in EXACT order as listed. Cover and cook on LOWEST setting [on your appliance] for 3 hours.
- DO NOT remove lid!
- Turn off and allow to cool slightly. Mixture will not be melted but will be soft.
- Mix thoroughly and drop by teaspoon size cookie dropper or a teaspoon onto wax paper. Let cool thoroughly.
- NOTE: This candy is made best by following the recipe to the letter. Make other variations and changes at your own risk, [for example, using pecans or almonds in place of peanuts; white chocolate chips instead of almond bark, etc.] as this is the voice of experience speaking. Please take into consideration that it may alter the quality of the finished product.
- **NOTE: There seems to be discrepancies in the terms crockpot and slow cooker. This recipe is for a crockpot which, when on low, will only melt the ingredients. A slow cooker will get hotter and start to cook the ingredients, thus resulting in an inferior product. Please be aware of what kind of appliance you have. It seems the older "crockpot" works best. There have been some who have burned their ingredients because their appliance is too hot. The makers and manufacturers of these appliances seem to interchange the description of their appliances calling slow cookers crockpots. It seems that Rival owns the name crockpot, therefore, others can't use the name crockpot, they are slow cookers. It's very confusing, but slow cookers, indeed, cook hotter, which could result in burning of this recipe.

Steps:
- I whirl my peanuts in the food processor just to grind them a bit but if you prefer just go ahead and use them as is.
- Pour peanuts into a large crock-pot; add chips and vanilla or almond bark. Cover and turn setting on low. Now get busy with something else for an hour or so. When you come back, stir mixture with a large spoon making sure all the peanuts are well coated.
- Using whatever size spoon is appropriate for you, (I use a small cooking scoop and it just fills the mini muffin cake liners) spoon out on a cookie sheet and let harden.
- Keep crock-pot on, no big rush, this is a generous recipe and you will have plenty. When sufficiently hard place in festive containers.
- Don't expect it to last very long because each piece is filled with a wonderful taste of chocolate and is chock full of peanuts.

CROCK-POT CHOCOLATE FRITO CANDY
Interesting candy recipe from A Year of Slow Cooking. Just think this uses LEFTOVER Fritos for a sweet instead of a savory entree. I once had chocolate covered potato chips and thought they were super so think this would be good too. (Big thinker here.) She claims that Fritos are gluten free-surprises me. I realize that you can buy gluten free pretzels. I am not labeling this gluten free unless someone with the knowledge informs me it is appropriate. If you want to try this in the microwave instead that is fine with me. I doubt that this recipe would work in a crock pot bigger than 4 quart-am suspicious that it would burn.

Steps:
- Put the Fritos and the pretzels in a large Ziploc and smash until crumby; set aside.
- Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
- Put the butter, chocolate chips, peanut butter, and brown sugar, into your crockpot and set on high for 1-2 hours or until everything is really melty and you can mix it well. (Hers took 1 hour, 15 minutes to melt nicely in a 6 quart crock pot. Remember the size of crock pot determines the length of cooking time in crock pot cooking.).
- Stir in pretzels and Frito pieces.
- Using oven mits (use them! The crock is hot! Do not get burned.) dump the hot candy out onto your lined cookie sheet and spread out with a wooden spoon.
- Sprinkle the peanut pieces on top.
- Put the pan in the refrigerator for about an hour, or until candy has set completely.
- Break into pieces.
