Yield Makes 1 drink

Number Of Ingredients 4

2 ounces rye or bourbon whiskey
1 ounce dry vermouth
2 dashes Angostura or orange bitters
Small piece lemon peel for garnish

Steps:

  • In mixing glass or cocktail shaker filled with ice, combine whiskey, vermouth, and bitters. Stir well, about 20 seconds, then strain into cocktail glass. Twist lemon peel directly over drink to release essential oils, drop into drink, and serve.

2 1/2 ounces blended whiskey
3/4 ounces dry vermouth
Dash Angostura bitters
3 or 4 ice cubes
Lemon peel or olive

Steps:

  • Combine the whiskey, vermouth, dash of bitters, and ice cubes in a mixing glass and stir well. Strain into a cocktail glass.Twist lemon peel over the side to release oil before dropping in; alternatively garnish with an olive.

  • Place ice in a mixing glass. Pour in vermouth, then whiskey, and stir. Strain into a cocktail glass. Add a dash of bitters if desired, and garnish with a cherry.
