Easy As Apple Pie 2


i found this in my easy to make easy to bake recipe collection. i have not tried it but am for thanksgiving.

Time: 60 minutes


  • preheat oven to 425f
  • fit 1 pie crust into a 9 inch pie dish
  • mix apples , 3 / 4 cup sugar , flour , apple-pie spice and salt in large mixing bowl until apples are coated
  • turn apple mixture into pastry-lined pie dish
  • spread evenly
  • scatter butter pieces over top of mixture
  • fit top crust over apple mixture
  • wrap excess top crust under bottom crust around edges
  • press edges together to seal
  • flute
  • brush top crust with milk
  • make slits in top crust with knife to create steam vents
  • sprinkle with remaining sugar
  • bake pie until golden , 40-45 minutes

My boyfriend and son both love apple crisp/pie. I make it often trying different versions of recipes. I did this today because there is little effort to putting it together. I baked it in my "apple" dish, which I have had for years and don't even remember where or how I got it. I'm sure any fruit will work with this recipe

  • 1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees spray dish with cooking spray.
  • 2. spread pie filling evenly in bottom of baking pan
  • 3. sprinkle dry cake mix over top covering fruit filling sprinkle cinnamon over cake mix
  • 4. drizzle with melted margarine, sprinkle nuts over top
  • 5. bake 35 minutes until topping starts to brown and fruit is bubbling

  • Prepare your pastry for a two crust pie. Wipe, quarter, core, peel, and slice apples; measure to 6 cups.
  • Combine sugar and cinnamon. The amount of sugar used depends on how tart your apples are.
  • Arrange apples in layers in pastry lined pie plate. Sprinkle each layer with sugar and cinnamon. Dot top layer with small pieces of butter or margarine. Cover with top crust.
  • Place on lowest rack in oven preheated to 450 degrees F (230 degrees C). Bake for 10 minutes, then reduce oven temperature to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Bake for 30 to 35 minutes longer. Serve warm or cold.

  • Preheat oven to 375°. In a small bowl, combine sugars, flour and spices; set aside. In a large bowl, toss apples with lemon juice. Add sugar mixture; toss to coat. , On a lightly floured surface, roll one half of dough to a 1/8-in.-thick circle; transfer to a 9-in. pie plate. Trim even with rim. Add filling; dot with butter. Roll remaining dough to a 1/8-in.-thick circle. Place over filling. Trim, seal and flute edge. Cut slits in top. Beat egg white until foamy; brush over crust. Sprinkle with sugar. Cover edge loosely with foil. , Bake 25 minutes. Remove foil; bake until crust is golden brown and filling is bubbly, 20-25 minutes longer. Cool on a wire rack.

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • To Make Crust: In a large bowl, mix together 1 1/2 cups flour, oil, milk, 1 1/2 teaspoons sugar and salt until evenly blended. Pat mixture into a 9 inch pie pan, spreading the dough evenly over the bottom and up sides. Crimp edges of the dough around the perimeter.
  • To Make Filling: Mix together 3/4 cup sugar, 3 tablespoons flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Sprinkle over apples and toss to coat. Spread evenly in unbaked pie shell.
  • To Make Topping: Using a pastry cutter, mix together 1/2 cup flour, 1/2 cup sugar and butter until evenly distributed and crumbly in texture. Sprinkle over apples.
  • Put pie in the oven on a cookie sheet to catch the juices that may spill over. Bake 45 minutes.

  • Combine white sugar, light brown sugar, flour, lemon, cinnamon, and mix well. Add apples and raisins to sugar mixture; stir until fruit is well coated.
  • Spoon apple mixture into pie crust. Place second piecrust on top of filling, and trim edges. Lightly glaze top of pie with a beaten egg, then sprinkled with a little sugar.
  • Bake till golden brown, about 35 to 40 minutes. Place on a wire rack, and cool 30 minutes.
