Time 35m

Number Of Ingredients 22

2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
¼ teaspoon ground cardamom
¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
⅛ teaspoon ground cloves
½ teaspoon fine salt
½ cup granulated sugar
¼ cup firmly packed light brown sugar
1 large egg
2 tablespoons canola or vegetable oil
½ cup buttermilk
1 cup puréed Caramelized Apple Compote
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
4 tablespoons unsalted butter (melted + more butter for the pans)
1 cup granulated sugar
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
½ teaspoon ground cardamom
¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
⅛ teaspoon ground cloves
Nonstick donut pans for 1 dozen donuts

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Grease pans with butter or spray with nonstick spray. Whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, cardamom, nutmeg, cloves and salt in a medium bowl. Set aside.
  • Whisk sugar, brown sugar, egg, oil, buttermilk, apple compote and vanilla extract in a large bowl until completely smooth. Add dry ingredients and combine with a rubber spatula until the batter just comes together.
  • Transfer batter to a large Ziploc bag. Cut a small hole in the corner of the bag and pipe the batter into a nonstick donut pan, filling each donut space about three-quarters of the way up with batter.
  • Transfer to the oven and bake until donuts spring back when touched, about 15 minutes. Set aside to cool slightly.
  • Meanwhile, make the topping. Combine the sugar, cinnamon, cardamom, nutmeg and cloves in a shallow bowl. When donuts are cool enough to handle, brush each donut with melted butter and toss in sugar and spice mixture until donuts are fully coated. Serve warm.

BAKED APPLE CIDER DONUTS

Baked Apple Cider Donuts image

Provided by Shiran

Time 40m

Number Of Ingredients 18

1 and 1/2 cups (360 ml) apple cider
1 and 3/4 cups (245g) all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
pinch of ground cardamom (, optional)
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 large egg
1/3 cup (65g) granulated sugar
1/3 cup (65g) dark or light brown sugar
3 tablespoons (40g) unsalted butter, melted
1/2 cup (120 ml) buttermilk ((or milk))
1 and 1/2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
6 tablespoons (85g) unsalted butter, melted
1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg (, optional)

Steps:

  • Reduce the apple cider: In a small saucepan, bring apple cider to a gentle boil and let simmer over medium heat until thick and reduced to about 1/3 cup (80 ml), 15-25 minutes. Set aside to cool.
  • Preheat oven to 350°F/180°C. Grease donut pans with butter or nonstick spray. Set aside.
  • In a large bowl sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda, spices, and salt. Set aside.
  • In a small bowl whisk together the egg, granulated sugar and brown sugar, until well combined. Whisk in the melted butter. Add the reduced apple cider, buttermilk and vanilla extract, and mix until combined. Pour the mixture into the flour mixture and whisk just until combined and smooth. Don't overmix the batter.
  • Divide the mixture between the donut cavities, filling about halfway full. I recommend using a piping bag to pipe the batter, it will be much easier and less messy. Bake for about 10 minutes until a toothpick inserted into the center of the donuts comes out clean. Let donuts cool in the pan for 5 minutes and then transfer them to a wire rack.
  • Meanwhile, make the topping: In a medium bowl mix together the sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Once cool enough to handle, for each donut, dip both sides in melted butter and then generously dip into the sugar mixture.
  • Donuts are best served immediately. Leftovers can be kept in the fridge for up to 3 days. Serve them warm or at room temperature.

CINNAMON APPLE BAKED DONUTS

Cinnamon Apple Baked Donuts image

These Cinnamon Apple Baked Donuts not only look cute for fall, but they're bursting with all the season's goodness. Apple Baked Donuts are full of cinnamon apple flavor and a tenderness that melts in your mouth.

Provided by Chew Out Loud

Categories     Breakfast

Time 22m

Number Of Ingredients 13

2 cups all purpose flour
2/3 cup granulated sugar
1½ tsp baking powder
½ tsp cinnamon
¼ tsp nutmeg
¾ cup whole milk
2 large eggs
2 TB regular butter (melted)
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 small OR 1 large apples; peeled (grated, and squeezed dry)
4 TB regular butter
½ cup sugar
1-2 tsp cinnamon (depending on how much cinnamon flavor you like)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400F and set rack on middle or lower middle position. Grease mini donut pans and set aside.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  • In another bowl, whisk together milk, eggs, 2 TB melted butter, vanilla extract, and grated apple (I use the largest holes of box grater; then squeeze out as much juice as you can. Save juice for drinking - yum.)
  • Use rubber spatula to fold wet ingredients with dry ingredients, gently folding just until combined; do not over-mix or it won't be as tender. Spoon or pipe batter into greased mini donut pans until batter is level with the top of pan. Use damp fingers to gently smooth out the tops.
  • Bake about 7 minutes or until lightly golden. Cool in pan slightly, just until they are able to be easily removed. Set donuts on wire rack while you make the cinnamon-sugar coating.
  • Whisk together the sugar with desired amount of cinnamon in a small bowl (this can be done days ahead of time.) Melt butter in another small bowl. When ready to eat, dip donuts in melted butter and roll generously in cinnamon sugar. Enjoy immediately.

BAKED STRAWBERRY DONUTS RECIPE

Baked Strawberry Donuts Recipe image

Baked Strawberry Donuts are a deliciously easy way to start the day! Made with fresh strawberries, these homemade donuts are baked to perfection and topped with a sweet strawberry glaze.

Provided by Becky Hardin - Easy Dessert Recipes

Categories     Breakfast     donuts

Time 40m

Number Of Ingredients 13

1½ cups all-purpose flour (180 grams)
1 teaspoon baking powder (4 grams)
¼ teaspoon kosher salt
1 large egg (50 grams)
½ cup granulated sugar (100 grams)
¼ cup vegetable oil (50 grams)
½ cup buttermilk (114 grams)
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract (4 grams)
½ cup chopped fresh strawberries (84 grams)
2 strawberries (finely diced)
½ teaspoon pure vanilla extract (2 grams)
1-2 tablespoons milk (14-28 grams)
2 cups powdered sugar (226 grams)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400°F. Spray a donut tin with nonstick baking spray. Set aside.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk the flour, baking powder, and salt together. Set aside.
  • In a large bowl, beat the egg and sugar together with a whisk until smooth. Add the oil, buttermilk, and vanilla. Whisk until combined.
  • Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients. Mix until just combined.
  • Gently fold in the chopped strawberries.
  • Pour the batter into a piping bag or Ziplock bag. Cut the end off of the piping bag or corner of the Ziplock bag and fill the donut cavities ¾ full.
  • Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the donuts comes out clean.
  • Allow the donuts to cool for 10 minutes in the tin. Flip the donut tin upside-down over a wire rack to completely cool.
  • Make the glaze. Place the finely diced strawberries into a medium bowl. Use a fork to mash and puree the strawberries until almost smooth. Add the vanilla, milk, and powdered sugar and mix until combined. If the glaze is too thin, add more powdered sugar. If the glaze is too thick, add milk.
  • Dip the donuts into the glaze or drizzle the glaze over the donuts.
