DELICIOUS DEEP FRIED PICKLES

Delicious Deep Fried Pickles image

I have made these for a few years now, and have converted many people into huge fans using this recipe! Great as an appy for those willing to try new things! (It is slightly messy!) Serve with ranch dip or dip of your choice.

Provided by Deandra Busch

Categories     Appetizers and Snacks

Time 50m

Yield 4

Number Of Ingredients 9

2 cups vegetable oil for frying
3 cups Italian-seasoned bread crumbs
1 teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 egg
1 cup milk
4 dill pickles, quartered lengthwise

  • Dab pickle slices on paper towels to dry them. Place about ½ cup of Panko bread crumbs in a bowl (add more as needed). (If they get wet, they don’t stick so it’s best to work in small batches.)
  • Dip each pickle slice in the wet batter and then gently toss in the bread crumbs, let sit for a minute or so, this will allow the crumbs to stick better.

  • Heat the oil to 350ºF (180ºC) in a deep-fry machine or heavy-bottom saucepan over medium heat. While oil is heating, peel the bananas, remove the stringy parts that cling to the peeled fruit, and cut crosswise in half.
  • Place the flour, eggs, and bread crumbs each in a separate bowl. Dredge the banana halves in flour to get an even coating. Shake to remove excess flour. Next, soak the banana halves in the beaten eggs mixed with 1 tsp water. Finally, cover the banana halves in bread crumbs.
  • Fry each half until lightly golden (do NOT overcrowd the pan), about 1 to 2 minutes. Remove with a slotted spoon. Place on a plate lined with a double layer of paper towels.
