GARLIC PARMESAN EDAMAME



Garlic Parmesan Edamame image

Get your edamame on with this easy peasy Garlic Parmesan Edamame recipe!

Number Of Ingredients 6

10 oz frozen edamame
1 TBSP unsalted butter
2 cloves garlic, minced
2-3 TBSP freshly grated Parmesan cheese
1/8-1/4 tsp kosher salt
black pepper (to taste)

Steps:

  • Bring a small bot with 3 or 4 cups of water to a rolling boil.
  • Add edamame and cook for 4-5 minutes, uncovered, stirring occasionally until desired tenderness is reached. I like mine at the 5-minute mark!
  • Pour into a colander to drain and set aside. Reduce heat on burner to medium and, in the same pot you used for the edamame, melt your butter.
  • Add the garlic and sauté until fragrant.
  • Toss drained edamame back into the pot and toss with the garlic. Add grated parmesan cheese, to taste, and season with salt and pepper. Enjoy!

1 1/2 cups of shelled edamame
2 teaspoon olive oil
1/4 cup shredded parmesan cheese (note: freshly shredded is best!)
Salt and pepper, to taste

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees
  • If you're using frozen edamame, run it under warm water in a colander and gently pat dry. If using fresh edamame, you can skip this step.
  • Toss the edamame in olive oil.
  • On a baking sheet, spread out the edamame into a single layer.
  • Lightly cover with freshly grated Parmesan cheese and season with salt and pepper.
  • Bake for 12-15 minutes until cheese is golden brown.

1 (12 ounce) package frozen edamame (soybeans) in their pods
2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon sea salt
½ teaspoon ground black pepper

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  • Toss edamame, olive oil, garlic, sea salt, and black pepper together in a large bowl until well-coated. Spread in a single layer on a baking sheet.
  • Roast in the preheated oven, stirring halfway through, until edamame shells start to brown, about 20 minutes. Serve whole, popping beans out of the shell to eat.

1 pkg. (10 oz.) frozen edamame (shelled)
1 egg white
1 Tbsp. water
1/4 cup KRAFT Grated Parmesan Cheese
1/4 tsp. garlic powder
1/4 tsp. coarse ground black pepper
1 tsp. sesame seed

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 400ºF.
  • Microwave edamame in microwaveable bowl on HIGH 2 min. or until thawed. Pat dry with paper towel.
  • Whisk all remaining ingredients except sesame seed in medium bowl until blended. Add edamame; mix well.
  • Cover rimmed baking sheet with foil; spray with cooking spray. Spread edamame onto prepared baking sheet; sprinkle with sesame seed.
  • Bake 22 to 25 min. or until edamame is crisp and golden brown, stirring every 10 min. to break up any large pieces. Cool slightly.

Snacking on edamame during the Mid-Autumn Festival is a Southern Chinese tradition. Though typically boiled, these two variations are a bit of a departure. One calls for the edamame to be skillet-roasted for a slightly more intense flavor and then finished with a quick toss in a sweet sauce of garlic and soy. The second is a sheet-pan roast of shelled edamame flavored with Parmesan and smoked paprika. The pair are a delicious showcase for edamame's versatility.

2 tablespoons reduced-sodium soy sauce
1 teaspoon brown sugar
3 cloves garlic, finely grated
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
12 ounces shell-on edamame
2 cups shelled edamame
2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
2 tablespoons Parmesan
1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Steps:

  • For the garlic-soy roasted edamame: In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, pepper and 1 tablespoon water until the sugar dissolves. Set aside.
  • Place a large cast-iron skillet over medium heat. Add the edamame and cook, tossing occasionally, until charred in spots, about 10 minutes. Turn the heat off and immediately add the soy sauce mixture. Simmer until fragrant, 30 to 45 seconds. Immediately transfer to a serving dish; serve warm.
  • For the Parmesan roasted edamame: Place a rack in the center of the oven and preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
  • Combine the edamame, olive oil, Parmesan, paprika, salt and pepper in a medium bowl and toss to combine. Spread the edamame in an even layer over the prepared baking sheet and bake on the center rack until they begin to brown, 12 to 15 minutes. Transfer to a serving dish and serve warm.
