Edible Clay image

A fun craft for kids, that they can eat too. The clay won't harden completely so it's fun to mold into shapes and decorate with dried fruit or cereal. When finished, it's ok to munch on your masterpiece.

1/3 cup peanut butter
1/2 cup instant milk powder
1/3 cup honey
For Decorating
raisins
o-shaped toasted oat cereal
pretzels
m&m's

Steps:

  • Combine the peanut butter, milk powder, and honey in a bowl. Knead with your hands until it is a smooth consistency. Let the kids mold the clay into shapes. Use raisins, cereal, pretzels, etc for decorations. For chocolate clay, add cocoa powder.

This is a NON-EDIBLE cookie recipe that makes lovely ornaments to hang on your Christmas Tree.

4 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup salt
1 ½ cups water

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Mix the flour, salt and water. Knead dough until smooth. Roll out dough and cut into desired shapes. Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 1 hour. Once cool paint with colors, if desired.

2 ½ cups white flour
½ cup salt
1 tablespoon cream of tartar
2 (0.13 ounce) packages unsweetened, fruit-flavored soft drink mix (such as KOOL-AID®)
3 tablespoons vegetable oil

Steps:

  • Bring the water to a boil in a sauce pan; remove from heat and set aside.
  • Whisk together the flour, salt, cream of tartar, and soft drink mix in a large bowl; stir the vegetable oil into the flour mixture using a spoon, not a whisk. Pour the hot water into the bowl and continue stirring. When the dough is cool enough to handle, turn it onto a lightly-floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic, about 8 minutes. Store unused portions in refrigerator.
