FOIL BAKED CRAB LEGS

Whether you caught the crab yourself or bought it at a market, these foil baked crab legs are a perfect way to cook fresh crab.

4 king crab legs
1 cup white wine (or fish stock)
2 cloves garlic (thinly sliced)
herb rub (to taste)

Steps:

  • Layout 4 sheets of foil in two stacks of two.
  • On each pile of foil add two crab legs then gently roll up the foil to create a bowl shape.
  • Into each foil bowl containing two crab legs add half the wine, one finely sliced garlic clove evenly spread, then a light sprinkle of the herb rub.
  • Wrap the first sheet of foil around the contents creating a tight seal with as little air as possible. Wrap each with the second piece of foil this time focusing on creating an airtight seal, rolling the foil joins if necessary.
  • Place the packets in a heat source of choice,l campfire coals, in a barbecue, or in a camp oven. Cook until the foil starts to puff up plus 2 minutes; the total time will be about 10 minutes depending on the temperature of your heat source.
  • Let the foil packs containing the crab legs sit for about 5 minutes. When opening be cautious of the pack's heat and any steam that may escape.

Baked crab legs are the easiest way to eat and prepare Alaskan king crab. Oven-baked in butter and Old Bay seasoning, the tender, succulent meat slips right out of the shell when done! This delicious seafood meal is prepared in under 30 minutes and is steamed to perfection.

3 pounds King Crab Legs * (see note #1)
6 tbsp. Butter (1 stick)
1 tbsp. Old Bay Seasoning (plus more, divided *(see note #2))
1 teaspoon Lemon Juice
1 clove Garlic (minced)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400F degrees. Line a baking pan with large pieces of aluminum foil. Place crab legs on top of the foil in a single layer. Set aside.
  • In a small saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in 1 tablespoon of Old Bay Seasoning, the lemon juice, and garlic. Reserve half of the mixture for dipping later.
  • Using a pastry brush, brush crab legs with butter mixture. Season with to taste with additional Old Bay if desired.
  • Tent the foil by bringing together all four sides of the aluminum foil to create a "packet" around the crab legs.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes.
  • For easy handling, allow the crab legs to cool for 5 minutes before serving. Serve with the reserved Old Bay butter mixture for dipping.

1 (24 oz. pkg) Sea Queen Snow Crab Legs
2 lemons (1 for juice, other for serving)
2 tsp. Stonemill Minced Garlic
1/2 c. Countryside Creamery Sweet Cream Butter (1/4 c. for crab, 1/4 c. for serving)
1 1/2 tsp. Stonemill Lemon Pepper

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Line shallow baking sheet with foil.
  • Place thawed crab legs evenly onto the baking sheet. Sprinkle evenly with the juice of 1 lemon and the minced garlic. Cut up 1/4 c. (4 Tbsp.) of butter into small pieces, and place evenly on top of crab legs. Lastly, evenly sprinkle the crab legs with the lemon pepper.
  • Bake at 400 degrees for 5-7 minutes. Serve right away while warm with additional lemon wedges and melted butter for dipping.
