French toast bacon casserole makes a wonderful breakfast or brunch to serve family and friends. Sweet and savory, this dish is a treat for everyone.

Number Of Ingredients 13

1 loaf French brioche bread (french, challah, or sourdough bread are other great options)
7 eggs, beaten
2 cup milk
1/2 cup half and half
1/3 cup sugar
1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
1 tbls vanilla
12 slices Wright® Brand bacon, diced
1/2 cup brown sugar
3 tbls cold butter, diced into small pieces
1/4 cup flour
1 tsp cinnamon
syrup, optional

Steps:

  • In a large skillet, cook diced bacon until browned and cooked through. Place bacon on a paper towel lined plate to drain excess grease.
  • Cut or tear bread into small cubes. Spray a 9x13 casserole dish with non-stick cooking spray.
  • Place bread cubes in the casserole dish. Sprinkle half of the bacon pieces over the bread.
  • In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, half and half, vanilla, sugar and cinnamon. Pour mixture over bread and bacon. Cover the dish and refrigerate for 2 hours up to overnight.
  • When ready to bake, preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  • In a bowl, combine flour, brown sugar and cinnamon. Stir butter into flour mixture. Using the back of a fork, mix butter with the mixture until crumbly.
  • Sprinkle mixture over the casserole and then top with remaining bacon pieces.
  • Cover with foil and bake for 20 minutes. Remove cover and bake another 20-25 minutes.

Very kid-friendly! I made this one morning when I was craving French toast and came up with the idea to put bacon inside it somehow! Yummy! The measurements for the sugars and cinnamon can be adjusted to however one likes! Can top with pecans, confectioners' sugar, or whatever else is desired!

1 pound bacon
½ cup butter, sliced into pats
12 slices bread
1 ½ tablespoons ground cinnamon, divided, or more to taste
1 ½ tablespoons white sugar, divided, or more to taste
1 tablespoon brown sugar, divided, or more to taste
1 pinch ground nutmeg, or more to taste
1 ½ cups milk
5 eggs, beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Steps:

  • Place bacon in a large skillet and cook over medium-high heat, turning occasionally, until evenly browned, about 10 minutes. Drain bacon slices on paper towels.
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Scatter about 1/3 of the butter pats onto the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish and arrange 6 slices of bread in a single layer, overlapping as necessary, on top of the butter. Top bread slices with bacon slices.
  • Sprinkle 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon, 1 1/2 teaspoons white sugar, and 1 1/2 teaspoons brown sugar, and nutmeg over bacon slices. Scatter 1/3 of the butter pats over bacon and top with remaining bread slices.
  • Whisk milk, eggs, remaining cinnamon, remaining white sugar, remaining brown sugar, and vanilla extract together in a bowl. Pour over bread mixture into baking dish. Scatter remaining butter pats over the top.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until golden brown and set, 35 to 45 minutes. Cool for 10 minutes before serving.

Bacon french toast casserole is the perfect dish to serve for a weekend brunch or breakfast. Simply combine bacon, eggs, and bread chunks and baked together in one dish, and then drizzle with maple syrup before serving. The perfect alternative to bacon and eggs!

10 slices white bread, cut into 1/2" cubes
8 eggs
1-1/2 cups milk
1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup maple syrup
1/2 teaspoon maple extract
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 lb bacon, cooked and cut into small pieces

Steps:

  • Grease a 9x13 baking pan with nonstick cooking spray. Spread bread into pan. In a separate bowl, combine eggs, milk, whipping cream, brown sugar, maple syrup, extract and cinnamon and whisk well.
  • Gently pour egg mixture over pieces of bread. Press bread into liquid to soak up. Sprinkle bacon on top. Cover and refrigerate for 2 hours or overnight. Remove from refrigerator 30 minutes before cooking.
  • Preheat oven to 350 and bake, uncovered, for 40-50 minutes or until a knife stuck in the center comes out clean and top is golden brown. Cooking time varies according to your oven - please check towards the end of the process. Let stand for 5 minutes before serving.
  • Add an extra drizzle of maple syrup and one tablespoon brown butter if desired. You could also top with cinnamon sugar if you please. Serves 10-12.

1 cup brown sugar
½ cup butter
1 (8 ounce) loaf crusty French bread, cut into bite-size pieces, or as needed
2 cups milk
6 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 pinch ground cinnamon, or to taste
1 tablespoon brown sugar, or as needed

Steps:

  • Grease a 9x12-inch baking dish.
  • Stir 1 cup brown sugar and butter together in a saucepan over medium-low heat until butter melts and sugar dissolves into butter, 2 to 4 minutes. Pour into prepared baking dish and spread a 1 1/2- to 2-inch layer of bread pieces over the top.
  • Beat milk, eggs, and vanilla extract together in a bowl; pour milk mixture over bread into the baking dish and move bread as necessary to ensure all bread is absorbing liquid. Sprinkle cinnamon over the top. Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate, 8 hours to overnight.
  • Preheat oven to 450 degrees F (230 degrees C). Remove and discard plastic wrap from baking dish and sprinkle remaining brown sugar over the top of the bread mixture.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until browned and bubbling, about 30 minutes.

6 large eggs
1 cup half-and-half cream
1 cup 2% milk
1/4 cup maple syrup
2 tablespoons sugar

16 slices French bread (1 inch thick)

Additional maple syrup

Steps:

  • In a shallow bowl, whisk first 7 ingredients. Dip both sides of bread in egg mixture. Arrange bread slices into 2 overlapping rows in a greased 13x9-in. baking dish. 8 eggs
3 cups half-and-half
1/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
3/4 teaspoon salt
12 slices bacon, cooked and cut into bite-sized pieces
2 tablespoons butter, cubed
4 tablespoons cinnamon sugar
maple syrup (optional)

Steps:

  • If cooking immediately, preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray a 9x13 pan with cooking spray.
  • In a large bowl, beat together eggs, half and half, 1/4 cup of sugar, vanilla, and salt.
  • Add in bread, tossing to coat thoroughly.
  • Add in cooked bacon, tossing again.
