1 loaf (10 ounces) frozen garlic bread
1/2 pound sliced fresh mushrooms
2/3 cup sliced onion
4 teaspoons butter
1 teaspoon minced garlic
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 pound shaved deli roast beef
6 slices Colby cheese

Steps:

  • Bake garlic bread according to package directions. Meanwhile, in a large skillet, saute mushrooms and onion in butter until tender. Add garlic; cook 1 minute longer. Stir in Worcestershire sauce., Layer each half of garlic bread with roast beef, mushroom mixture and cheese. Return to oven; bake for 3-5 minutes or until heated through and cheese is melted.

Number Of Ingredients 12

1 bag red or yellow pearl onions
2 1/2 pounds beef chuck, cubed for stew
Kosher salt and coarse black pepper
2 tablespoons olive or vegetable oil
2 tablespoons butter
1 head garlic, cloves crushed
2 tablespoons tomato paste
1 cup dry red or white wine
2 cups beef stock
One 15-ounce can stewed tomatoes
Crusty bread for mopping
Chopped fresh parsley, for garnish

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F.
  • Bring a saucepot of water to a boil, then boil the onions for 3 to 4 minutes, drain and cool. Squeeze pearl the onions from the skins, pushing with root end facing away from you.
  • Pat the meat dry and sprinkle liberally with salt and pepper. Heat the oil, 2 turns of the pan, in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Add the meat and brown evenly all over, then remove to a plate and lower the heat to medium. Add the butter and melt, then add the garlic and onions. Season with salt and pepper. Cook, stirring, until lightly brown, a few minutes. Stir in the tomato paste and cook for 1 minute, then add the wine to deglaze. Add the beef, stock and tomatoes. Combine and roast, covered, until tender, 2 to 2 1/2 hours. Cool and store for a make-ahead meal. Reheat on the stovetop over medium heat, stirring frequently.
  • Serve with the bread for mopping, and garnish with the parsley.

The recipe calls for a loaf of garlic bread but I used the presliced texas toast type frozen garlic bread and it worked out perfectly. I also used chipotle cheddar sliced cheese which was tasty too. Loved this recipe so much I had to post it.

Eggs fried in hot sauce and blanched-then-sauteed broccoli rabe combine in a hero that's the perfect balance of spicy, garlicky, rich, and green.

Kosher salt
1 1/2 pounds broccoli rabe
3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
4 garlic cloves, finely chopped
Freshly ground black pepper
5 to 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
4 (9-inch) hero rolls, split
8 ounces sliced provolone
3 tablespoons Sriracha
4 to 8 large eggs
2 tablespoons grated Parmesan

Steps:

  • SET UP: Preheat the broiler to high with a rack set 4 inches from the heat source. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
  • COOK THE GREENS: Add the broccoli rabe to the water and cook until crisp tender, 3 to 4 minutes, then drain. Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until hot. Add the garlic and cook, stirring, until golden, 1 to 2 minutes. Stir in the broccoli rabe, season with salt and pepper, remove from the heat, and keep warm.
  • TOAST THE ROLLS: Melt 4 tablespoons of the butter in a large skillet. Brush the cut sides of the rolls with some of the melted butter. Broil the rolls, cut-side up, until brown, about 3 minutes. Divide the provolone among the rolls and broil until the cheese melts, about 1 minute. Fill the rolls with broccoli rabe.
  • FRY THE EGGS AND ASSEMBLE: Heat one more tablespoon butter in the same skillet over medium-high heat until hot. Stir in the Sriracha and simmer for 20 seconds. Working in batches and adding more butter if needed, crack the eggs into the skillet and fry until the whites just begin to set, about 1 minute. Cover the skillet and cook over low heat until the egg whites are set but the yolks are still runny, 1 to 2 minutes. Put 1 to 2 eggs on each sandwich, sprinkle with Parmesan, and serve.

  • Combine olive oil, lime juice, jalapenos, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, cilantro, elephant garlic, sugar, paprika, cumin, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper in a large glass bowl. Add whatever meat you are planning on marinating, cover, and refrigerate for 2 hours. The meat will lose it's bright red color as it marinades in the acidic juice.

I am a big fan of garlic, and use it in much of the cooking I do. I love Reubens and the addition of garlic just makes them even better!

Number Of Ingredients 7

2 slices rye bread
1 tablespoon softened butter
2 slices swiss cheese
3 ounces corned beef, thin sliced
2 ounces sauerkraut
2 tablespoons thousand island dressing
1 garlic clove

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 450 degrees.
  • Butter both sides of each slice of bread.
  • Place bread on a cookie sheet and bake for 2 to 3 minutes; just long enough to lightly brown one side.
  • Remove bread from oven.
  • Rub garlic clove on toasted side of bread.
  • Place one piece of bread on the cookie sheet, garlic side facing up.
  • Layer ingredients on bread in the following order: 1 slice cheese, corned beef, saurkraut, second slice of cheese.
  • Spread the Thousand Island dressing on the remaining slice of bread on the garlic side.
  • Place the dressed bread on top of the other ingredients.
  • Return sheet to oven and bake for 4 to 5 minute, watching closely so that bread does not burn.
  • Flip sandwich over, and bake an additional 3 to 4 minutes.
