GINGER COSMOPOLITAN



Ginger Cosmopolitan image

Known informally as the "cosmo," this hip cocktail gets a snappy flavor boost with the addition of fresh ginger.

1 tablespoon chopped gingerroot
Ice cubes
1/4 cup vodka (2 oz)
2 tablespoons orange-flavored liqueur (1 oz)
2 tablespoons white cranberry juice
1 tablespoon lime juice
1 lime wedge

Steps:

  • In bottom of cocktail shaker, muddle gingerroot. Add ice, vodka, liqueur, cranberry juice and lime juice; shake until blended. Pour into chilled martini glass, straining out ice and gingerroot. Garnish with lime wedge.

Ginger Cosmopolitan image

This is adapted from a Stone's recipe. The recipe calls for citrus infused vodka but I didn't have any so used a smaller amount of home-made limoncello instead. Using limoncello makes it lovely & sweet on the palate, next time I'll try the citron to see how the flavour differs.

45 -60 ml citrus-infused vodka or 30 ml limoncello
60 ml stone's original ginger wine
75 ml cranberry juice
5 dashes fresh lime juice

Steps:

  • Shake all well and strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
  • Garnish with flamed orange zest and a small piece of crystallised ginger.
