CHINESE STEAMED TILAPIA



Chinese Steamed Tilapia image

Steamed tilapia is a classic Cantonese dish. It's flavored with soy sauce and ginger, and it cooks in only 15 minutes.

2 tilapia filets
3 tbsp soy sauce
1 tsp ginger (sliced)
1 clove garlic (sliced)
1 green onion (roughly chopped)

Steps:

  • Prepare your steamer. I set up a steamer rack in a large skillet on the stove with about an inch of water.
  • Place tilapia filets on a plate that will fit in your steamer.
  • Pour soy sauce over fish. Sprinkle ginger, garlic, and green onion over the fish as well.
  • Carefully place the plate of fish into your steamer. Cover with a lid and steam for 15 minutes or until fish is cooked through. Serve right away.

4 (4 ounce) filets Waterfront BISTRO® Tilapia, thawed
¼ teaspoon fresh ground black pepper for seasoning Tilapia
2 slices fresh ginger
½ teaspoon toasted sesame oil
1 ½ tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons minced green onions
4 sprigs cilantro

Steps:

  • Pat Tilapia Filets dry, place onto entrée style dinner plate and season with pepper.
  • Combine soy sauce, sesame oil, ginger slices, green onions and cilantro, mix to incorporate and pour over top of Tilapia Filets.
  • Wrap the entire preparation in plastic wrap, sealing tightly.
  • Microwave for 4 minutes at high heat or until the fish is thoroughly cooked.
  • Remove plastic wrap and enjoy.
