Copycat Applebee's Blondies with Maple Butter Sauce is the ultimate dessert. Soft, thick blondies with a delicious drizzle of creamy sauce!

4 egg whites
1/2 cup butter (softened)
1/2 cup light brown sugar
1/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1/2 cup butter
1/4 cup cream cheese (softened)
1/2 cup powdered sugar
2 Tablespoons maple syrup
1/4 teaspoon tsp salt
vanilla ice cream, (for serving)
additional chopped walnuts, (for serving)

Steps:

  • For the blondies: Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Grease a 9x13 pan with baking spray.
  • In a large mixing bowl, whip the egg whites with mixer and/or whip attachment. Stiff peaks should form after 3-4 minutes. Mix in butter, brown sugar, sugar and vanilla. The batter might look a little chunky, but beat until smooth.
  • In medium size bowl, sift the dry ingredients: flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt.
  • Slowly, add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until combined.
  • Add milk and walnuts. Stir until they are incorporated. Pour the batter into the pan and bake 40 minutes.
  • The blondies will turn golden brown and a toothpick in the center will come out clean. Once cooled, then you can slice the bars
  • For the sauce: Mix everything together in a mixing bowl. Beat until combined. Use immediately or store in the fridge until the blondies are ready.
  • To Serve: Heat the blondies and sauce in the microwave until warm. Cut a square of blondies if not already cut and plate it. Top with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Spoon sauce on top and sprinkle with walnuts.

Quick and easy gluten-free blondie recipe. These bar cookies are flavored with brown sugar. Delicious with chocolate chips or not.

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 ½ cups gluten-free flour, Bob's Red Mill 1:1 Gluten-free Baking Flour recommended. ((7½ ounces; 212 grams))
1 teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
1 ½ sticks butter, melted ((6 ounces; 170 grams))
1 ¼ cups packed dark brown sugar ((9 ounces; 255 grams))
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup chocolate chips, optional (dark, milk, or white) ((6 ounces; 170 grams))
1 cup toasted pecans or walnuts, chopped ((3½ ounces; 100 grams))

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F. For thick blondies, use an 8x8-inch square pan. For thin blondies, use a 9x13-inch pan. Line the with parchment paper, leaving a 1-inch overhang on two opposite sides of the pan.
  • Whisk together gluten-free flour, baking powder, and salt in a small bowl. In a medium bowl, stir together brown sugar and melted butter until smooth. Add eggs and vanilla. Whisk until creamy. Add gluten-free flour mixture. Mix with a wooden spoon until the batter is thick and smooth. If using chocolate chips and/or nuts, stir them in now. Spread batter into prepared pan. If using a 9x13-inch pan, it might look like there's not enough batter for the pan. Use a small spatula or the back of a spoon to evenly spread the batter into the pan.
  • Bake until bars are golden brown and the top is shiny and slightly cracked. About 35 minutes for an 8-inch pan and 30 minutes for a 9x13-inch pan. Place pan on a wire rack to cool. Bars will sink in the middle as they cool. Lift bars out of the pan with the overhanging parchment paper. Place bars on a cutting board and cut into squares with a sharp knife. When cut, the bars might look underbaked. That's normal. They are very moist and buttery.
  • Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to four days. Freeze cooled bars in a freezer container for up to two months. If you need to stack the bars, place a piece of parchmene paper or waxed paper between the layers.

3/4 teaspoon xanthan gum (omit if your blend already contains it)
1/4 cup cornstarch
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
12 tablespoons unsalted butter (at room temperature)
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 cup packed light brown sugar
3 eggs (at room temperature)
1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
6 ounces chips (I like a mixture of butterscotch and white chocolate chips (See Recipe Notes))
1/4 cup unsalted butter (chopped)
1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
1/2 cup pure maple syrup
3/4 cup heavy whipping cream
Pure vanilla extract (to taste)
Coarse salt (to taste)
No-Machine 3-Ingredient Vanilla Ice Cream

  • Preheat your oven to 325°F. Grease and line an 8-inch x 8-inch (for thicker bars) or 9-inch x 9-inch (for thinner bars) baking pan, and set it aside.

A family favorite dessert that taste just like the maple butter blondies at Applebee's.

1/3 cup butter, melted
1 cup brown sugar, packed
1 large egg, beaten
1 tablespoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/8 teaspoon baking soda
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 cup flour
2/3 cup white chocolate chips
1/3 cup pecans, chopped (can also use walnuts)
3/4 cup maple syrup
1/2 cup butter
3/4 cup brown sugar
8 ounces cream cheese, softened to room temp
1/4 cup pecans, chopped

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350 degrees.
  • In a large bowl mix together butter, brown sugar, egg, and vanilla. Then stir in baking powder, baking soda, salt and flour until well blended. Fold in the white chocolate chips and chopped nuts.
  • Pour the thick batter into a greased 9x9 inch pan. Cook for 20 to 25 minutes.
  • While the blondies are cooking you can prepared the maple butter sauce.
  • In a medium saucepan combine the maple syrup and butter. Cook over LOW heat until butter is melted. Add brown sugar and softened cream cheese, stirring constantly until cream cheese has melted.
  • After the blondies are done cooking, cut into squares. Top with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and drizzle maple butter sauce over all. Top with additional chopped pecans.

BLONDIES:
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/8 tsp baking soda
1/8 tsp salt
1 c all purpose flour
1/4 c chopped walnuts, optional
1 c brown sugar, firmly packed
5 Tbsp butter, melted
1 large egg, beaten
1 Tbsp good vanilla extract
1/2 c white chocolate chips
MAPLE SAUCE:
3/4 c real maple syrup, not imitation
1 stick butter
3/4 c brown sugar, firmly packed
1/4 c chopped walnuts, optional

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Stir together baking powder, soda, salt, and flour. Sift dry ingredients into a medium bowl, stir in 1/4 cup nuts and set aside. In another, larger, bowl mix 1 cup brown sugar and 5 tablespoons melted butter. Combine well. Add eggs and vanilla and mix well, again. Stir flour mixture into butter/brown sugar mixture, a little at a time. When well mixed stir in white chocolate chips.
  • 2. Spread batter evenly in a non-stick 9 inch square pan. This will be a small amount of dough. The pan will not be as full as it would be for typical brownies. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until blondies pass the toothpick test. Remove from oven.
  • 3. SAUCE: Heat maple syrup in a small saucepan over low heat. Stir in remaining butter and cook at a simmer until butter is melted. Stir in ermaining brown sugar and cook, stirring, until brown sugar has dissolved completely and sauce is hot. If you desire you can add 1/4 cup chopped nuts. Serve by placing warm blondie on plate, top with ice cream, and pour sauce over all.
