Ingredients

4 quarts popped popcorn
1/2 cup butter, cubed
1 cup sugar
6 tablespoons light corn syrup
Dash salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
12 drops yellow food coloring
4 drops red food coloring

Steps:

Place popcorn in a very large bowl. In a small saucepan, melt butter. Stir in the sugar, corn syrup and salt. Cook and stir over medium heat until mixture comes to a boil. Reduce heat to medium-low; cook 5 minutes longer, stirring occasionally. , Remove from the heat. Stir in vanilla and food coloring. Pour over popcorn; toss to coat. Transfer to two 15x10x1-in. baking pans coated with cooking spray. , Bake at 250° for 45 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes. Spread on waxed paper to cool. Store in airtight containers.

I have made this good treat for the kids and they always loven them. These popcorn balls are great for the holidays and they can be colored in red for Valentine's, green for St. Patrick's, orange for Halloween, green and red for Christmas, etc. The orange and strawberry are the flavors the kids like the best.

Ingredients

1 cup light corn syrup
1 (3 ounce) package jello gelatin powder, sugar-free, any flavor
11 cups popped popcorn
1/4 cup butter, melted

Steps:

Place popped popcorn in a large bowl, lightly buttered.
Bring the corn syrup and jello mix to a boil in a saucepan.
Boil over medium heat until mixture separates into a hard thread when dropped into very cold water, about 6 to 7 minutes.
Remove from heat and pour over popcorn, mixing quickly to coat well. Let stand for about 3 to 5 minutes and with your hands buttered, shape into 1-1/2 inch balls.
NOTE: these balls can also be made using Kool-Aid unsweetened drink in any flavor instead of the Jell-O, and it is the same procedure.

This recipe is much easier & quicker to make than the traditional version. The marshmallows not only give the popcorn balls a different flavour but make them chewy, too. I call them "goblin" popcorn balls because I did them up for the Trick or Treaters this year - wrapped them in green plastic wrap & tied with gold ribbon.

Ingredients

4 tablespoons butter
1 (250 g) bag mini marshmallows
1/4 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
12 cups air-popped popcorn
1 cup M&M's plain chocolate candy

Steps:

Measure popcorn into large bowl.
Set aside.
Melt butter in pot over low heat.
Add brown sugar and stir until dissolved in butter.
Add marshmallows and stir until melted.
Pour over popcorn and mix until evenly coated.
Add M&Ms and mix again.
Butter hands and, working quickly, form into balls.
When cool, wrap individually in plastic wrap.
