GRILLED PHILLY CHEESESTEAK SLIDERS

Grilled Philly Cheesesteak Sliders image

Grilled Philly Cheesesteak Sliders are gooey, cheesy, buttery grilled party sandwiches with roast beef, peppers, onions, Dijon mayonnaise, and two cheeses. Take your Hawaiian rolls sliders with beef to the next level by cooking them on the grill and capturing all that amazing smoky flavor.

Provided by Erica

Categories     Appetizer

Time 35m

Number Of Ingredients 13

½ cup mayonnaise
1 tsp Dijon mustard
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
couple pinches kosher salt
½ tsp garlic powder
2 pkgs Hawaiian original sweet rolls (12 rolls each)
1 lb shaved rare roast beef deli meat
1 small green bell pepper (seeded, ribs removed, and sliced thin)
½ white onion (sliced thin)
couple pinches fresh cracked pepper
12 slices white American cheese
12 slices provolone
1 stick unsalted butter (melted)

Steps:

  • Set up the Big Green Egg or grill to grill by indirect heat. Heat to a steady 350°F.
  • In a small bowl, combine the mayonnaise, Dijon, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and garlic powder.
  • Assemble the sliders: use a large serrated knife to cut the rolls into a bottom layer and top layer. Lay a bottom layer on a double layer of large pieces of foil. Spread half the Dijon-mayonnaise over, and layer half each the roast beef, bell pepper, onion, pepper, white American cheese, and provolone cheese. Finish with the top layer of bread. Brush the tops and sides with half the butter.
  • Repeat this process with the remaining ingredients. Pour any remaining butter over all the tops to use it all up (this is why it is important to assemble on foil for easier wrapping).
  • Wrap each prepared batch of sliders in the foil, taking care around the bottom to fold the foil up to hold the butter. Put to grill 10 minutes at 350°F.
  • After 10 minutes, open foil up and bake and additional 15-20 minutes more until sliders are thoroughly heated through and edges are toasty.

GRILLED PHILLY CHEESESTEAK SLIDER RECIPE

Grilled Philly Cheesesteak Slider Recipe image

I'm in Virginia and there isn't a decent Philly cheesesteak to be had. So I decided to make my own, adding in a hint of charcoal flavor, of course.

Provided by Matthew Eads

Categories     Entree     Main Course     Sandwich

Time 30m

Number Of Ingredients 12

12 slider rolls
3 cups chopped leftover steak or fresh shaved ribeye
1 tbsp olive oil
1 pound provolone cheese (thinly sliced)
1½ cups crispy fried onions
1 stick butter (room temperature)
3 cloves garlic (finely minced)
2 tsp Dijon mustard
2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp light brown sugar
¼ tsp smoked paprika
2 tbsp fresh parsley (finely chopped (optional))

Steps:

  • Light your grill and set it up for two zone cooking
  • While your grill is preheating, prepare the sliders. Leaving the rolls connected, separate the tops from the bottoms by slicing them in half horizontally. Place the bottom half of the rolls in a 9×13 inch baking dish and cover with a layer of provolone cheese.
  • Place a griddle surface directly over the coals on the grill. Add the olive oil and let it heat up for one minute. Coat the cooking surface with the hot oil and add the leftover steak or shaved steak. Cook for 3-5 minutes.
  • Take the meat off the griddle and spread it evenly on top of the cheese-covered bottom buns. Then add another layer of cheese on top of the steak and then top with crispy fried onions. Next, place the tops of the rolls on the sliders and put them on the grill over indirect heat, close the lid and allow them to bake at 325° F for five minutes.
  • While the sliders are baking, prepare the glaze by melting one stick of butter in a small saucepan over low heat. Then whisk the garlic, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, and paprika into the melted butter.
  • Open the grill lid and, using a pastry brush, brush about one-fourth of the warm garlic butter glaze on top of the rolls until uniformly covered. Reserve the remaining glaze and keep warm. Close the lid and bake for an additional 15 minutes or until golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  • Remove the sliders from the grill, sprinkle with optional parsley, cut and serve warm with the remaining garlic butter as a dipping sauce.

Grilled Philly Cheesesteak Recipe | Traeger Grills image

Thin-sliced beef, onions, and peppers smothered in melted cheese make for big time flavor.

Provided by Traeger Kitchen

Categories     Beef

Number Of Ingredients 11

green bell pepper, seeded and sliced
yellow bell pepper, seeded and sliced
red bell pepper, seeded and sliced
Yellow onion, sliced into rounds
Kosher salt
Freshly ground black pepper
(1 1/2 lb) New York strip steak, thinly sliced against the grain
Traeger Beef Rub
Canola oil
hoagie rolls, split lengthwise
provolone cheese

Steps:

  • When ready to cook, place a flat cast iron griddle or large skillet on one side of the grill grates. Set the Traeger temperature to 450°F and preheat with the lid closed for 15 minutes.
  • Season the bell peppers and onion liberally with salt and black pepper. Season the steak slices with Traeger Beef Rub.
  • Add the canola oil to the hot cast iron griddle, then add the onion and season with more salt. Close the lid and sauté the onion, stirring occasionally, until translucent, about 5 minutes. Add the bell peppers and cook until softened, about 10 minutes more.
  • While the peppers and onions are cooking, place the seasoned steak strips directly on the grill grates next to the skillet. Close the lid and cook for 3 minutes per side, until lightly browned and cooked through.
  • Place the hoagie rolls, cut-side down, on the top grill grate to toast.
  • Transfer the steak to the griddle in 4 piles. Distribute the peppers and onion evenly over the steak, then top each pile with a slice of Provolone. Close the lid to melt the cheese, about 2 minutes.
  • Using two spatulas, transfer each pile to a toasted bun. Serve hot. Enjoy!
