This recipe comes from one or more recipes from Cookpad, the Japanese cooking website, for 8-ingredient stir fry: napa cabbage, onion, mushroom, carrot, meat, and three other ingredients of your choice. DON'T FORGET TO ADD THE GRATED FRESH GINGER!

300 milliliters chicken broth
1 tablespoon sake
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon cornstarch or 1 tablespoon potato starch, mixed with water
white pepper, to taste
grated fresh ginger, to taste

Steps:

  • Heat broth in small saucepan.
  • Add sake, sugar, salt, soy sauce, and white pepper.
  • Just before adding sauce to happosai stir fry, turn off heat; mix water and starch and add to sauce gradually while stirring to thicken; immediately add sauce to stir fry.
  • Stir in additional grated fresh ginger to the stir fry just before serving to suit your taste.
