2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
3 ripe bananas, mashed
1 tablespoon milk
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, or to taste
½ cup butter, softened
1 cup white sugar
2 eggs
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan, preferably glass.
  • Mix flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a bowl. Stir bananas, milk, and cinnamon in another bowl. Beat butter and sugar in a third bowl until light and fluffy. Add eggs to butter mixture, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir banana mixture into butter mixture. Stir in dry mixture until blended. Fold in chocolate chips until just combined. Pour batter into prepared loaf pan.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, about 70 minutes. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes before removing to cool completely on a wire rack before slicing.

This chocolate chip walnut banana bread is dense, moist, and full of flavor. It's hearty enough to pack in your bag for the perfect breakfast on the go, satisfying snack, or anytime treat. It's simple to make and ready in just over an hour!

3 medium bananas
2 large eggs
¾ cup brown sugar
½ cup butter (melted)
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon cinnamon
½ teaspoon sea salt
1 cup chocolate chips
1 cup chopped walnuts

Steps:

  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Butter a 5"x9" loaf pan. Mash the bananas in a large bowl. Add the eggs, brown sugar, and melted butter and whisk well.
  • In a medium-sized bowl, whisk the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt.
  • Gently fold the flour mixture into the banana mixture. When only a few streaks of flour remain, add the chocolate chips and walnuts and fold them into the batter.
  • Pour the batter into the loaf pan. Top with a few extra walnuts and chocolate chips, if you'd like.
  • Bake for 65-75 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Cleck the loaf after 45 minutes and, if it's browning too quickly, cover the top loosely with foil. Remove the banana bread from the oven and let it cool for 15 minutes in the pan then invert the pan to remove the bread and let it finish cooling on a cooling rack.

2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 egg
1 1/8 cups sugar
1/2 cup vegetable oil (i.e. canola oil)
2 tablespoons buttermilk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 bananas (medium large, ripe and mashed)
1/2 cup chopped walnuts (for batter)
1/3 cup chopped walnuts (for topping)

Steps:

  • Pre-heat the oven to 325 degrees F; and grease a 9X5X3 inch loaf pan and dust with flour.
  • Blend together the flour, baking soda and salt, set aside.
  • Mix together the egg, sugar and vegetable oil until well combined; add the flour mixture, blend then add the buttermilk, vanilla, mashed bananas and mix until combined.
  • Fold in 1/2 cup chopped walnuts and pour batter into prepared loaf pan.
  • Top batter with remaining 1/3 cup chopped walnuts.
  • Bake for 45 to 60 minutes, until a wood pick comes out clean; cool for 10 minutes on a wire rack before removing the cake from the pan.

1/4 teaspoon salt

3/4 cup walnuts, toasted and chopped
1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, at room temperature
1 cup sugar
2 large eggs
1 cup mashed ripe bananas
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F. Butter and flour a 9 by 5-inch metal loaf pan. Whisk the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt in a medium bowl to blend. Combine the chocolate chips and walnuts in a small bowl; add 1 tablespoon of the flour mixture and toss to coat.
  • In a stand mixer, beat the butter in a large bowl until fluffy. Gradually add the sugar, beating until well blended. Beat in the eggs 1 at a time. Beat in the mashed bananas, lemon juice, and vanilla. Beat in flour mixture.
  • Spoon one-third of the batter into the prepared pan. Sprinkle with half of the chocolate-chip and nut mixture. Spoon another one-third of batter into the pan. Sprinkle with the remaining nut mixture. Cover with the remaining one-third batter. Run a knife through the batter in a zigzag pattern.
  • Bake the bread until a tester inserted into the center comes out clean, about 1 hour and 5 minutes. Turn out onto a rack and cool.
