This is best feta dip ever. It is so tangy and salty and completely addictive. People often comment that they would like to lick the bowl. Great on pitas, used as a dip, or alongside souvlaki.

½ cup olive oil
½ cup plain yogurt
3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
1 tablespoon paprika
1 small garlic clove, minced
1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper, or to taste
1 pinch white sugar
1 pound feta cheese, cut into small cubes

Steps:

  • Combine olive oil, yogurt, lemon juice, paprika, garlic, black pepper, cayenne pepper, and sugar in a food processor; pulse mixture until smooth. Add a couple feta cubes at a time, processing between batches until mixture until thick and smooth.
  • Transfer dip to a bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and refrigerate at least 1 hour.

6 ounces roasted red pepper, drained and dried
1/2 teaspoon Calabrian chile paste
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
1 clove garlic, grated
8 ounces French feta (or other good-quality feta)

Steps:

  • Add the roasted red pepper, Calabrian chile paste, salt and garlic to the bowl of a food processor. Pulse until the mixture is chunky and evenly chopped. Using your hands, break the feta up into large chunks and add it to the food processor. Pulse the mixture until the feta is incorporated into the pepper mixture. (The mixture should remain slightly chunky.) Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes for the flavors to come together. Serve with crackers, veggies, on sandwiches or burgers. Spicy feta dip will keep, refrigerated in an airtight container, up to 1 week.

I ate this at a Bulgarian restaurant and it was simply delicious. I think I came pretty close to the original recipe by mixing my own ingredients and proportions. My husband and I like to enjoy this dip with a nice glass of red wine.

3/4 crumbled feta cheese
1 cup yogurt
3 tablespoons olive oil
3 large garlic cloves (smashed and finely chopped)
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
3 fresh dill, sprigs (chopped) (optional)

Steps:

  • In a bowl using a strainer and paper towel drain the yogurt from excess water for about 30 minute.
  • In a separate bowl mix the above ingredients including the drained yogurt.
  • Serve with warm pita bread (or tortillas) wedges brushed with olive oil.Bon Apetit!

  • Using a cheese cloth or a triple ply paper towel over a colander remove some of the excess water from the yogurt.
  • Combine all ingredients in a food processor and Voila! You have a great dip in less than a minute.
