HOMEMADE HOISIN SAUCE
This sauce is awesome on chicken and beef recipes that normally call for barbeque sauce. I might even try it on pork blades on the grill.

- Combine soy sauce, peanut butter, honey, Chinese hot sauce, white vinegar, sesame oil, garlic powder, and ground black pepper; whisk well until smooth.

EASY PORK WITH HOISIN SAUCE
Steps:
- Trim excess fat and silverskin from tenderloin. Cut into 1-inch pieces, pat with paper towels, rub with some sesame oil, and season with salt and freshly ground black pepper.
- Place a medium skillet over medium high heat, add 1 tablespoon sesame oil. When oil shimmers, add pork and cook until browned and cooked partially, about 2 to 3 minutes per side.
- Remove pork to a plate, return skillet to stove, and add garlic. When garlic is fragrant, add green beans and stir occasionally until browned, about 3 minutes. Add sherry and hoisin, stir to combine, and cook until beans are tender and sauce is reduced slightly and sherry smell is cooked off, about 4 minutes. Return pork to pot, turn to coat in sauce, season with salt and freshly ground black pepper. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and green onions, if using, and serve over rice.
HOISIN BBQ SAUCE
Steps:
- Cook 2 minced garlic cloves in a saucepan with olive oil, 1 minute. Stir in 1/2 cup hoisin sauce, 2 tablespoons each rice vinegar and dry sherry, 1 tablespoon each soy sauce and ketchup and 1/3 cup water. Simmer until thick, stirring, 20 minutes. Let cool, then add 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil and 1 chopped scallion.
HOMEMADE HOISIN SAUCE
This recipe is easy to make and tastes great. Amounts can be adjusted to suit individual tastes to make it more or less sweet and spicy. Black bean paste can be used in placed of the peanut butter. Goes well with chicken, pork, beef, wild game and dim sum.

Oh, the waste of expired hoisin that I've thrown away! A small-batch recipe that's easy to whip up. This does NOT taste exactly like store bought, but can get you through a recipe with darn good results. Sriracha Asian Sweet Hot Sauce works best.

- Place all ingredients in a Mason jar and shake until it emulsifies.
- Note 1: May need to increase peanut butter/black bean paste to taste. Use no more than 2 tablespoons, but please, start with one tablespoon.
- Note 2: Can sub 1 toe fresh garlic for powdered. Work with mortar and pestle the fresh garlic and jalapeno until it forms a paste.
