HOLIDAY SWIRL COOKIES (GIFT MIX IN A JAR)

Steps:

• Creating the Gift in a Jar:
• Wash and thoroughly dry a 1-quart wide-mouth canning jar.
• Layer the ingredients in the jar as listed above starting with the flour mixture, brown sugar, sugar and the morsels - make sure to press firmly with a flat bottomed object after each addition; make the layers as level as possible.
• Secure the lid and decorate as desired; attach the instructions for making these cookies found below.
• HOLIDAY SWIRL COOKIES GIFT TAG:
• Additional ingredients to be added by the recipient: 1/2 cup butter, softened, 1/2 cup shortening, 1 egg and 1 tsp vanilla extract.
• COOKIE INSTRUCTIONS:
• Preheat oven to 375°F
• Remove morsels from jar and set aside.
• Beat butter and shortening until creamy in a medium mixing bowl.
• Add dry ingredients from jar; mix until well blended.
• In a small bowl, beat egg with vanilla extract using a fork; add to flour mixture.
• Gently stir in morsels.
• Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto cookie sheet.
• Bake at 375°F for 8 to 10 minutes or until lightly browned.

• Jar Assembly: Layer in a one quart jar: 1. Mix flour, salt & baking soda, place in bottom of jar 2. Oats 3. M&Ms 4. Brown Sugar (press down firmly) 5. Sugar To make cookies, mix jar contents with 1/2 cup melted butter, 1 egg and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Drop by 2 tablespoons on cookie sheet. Bake for 10 minutes at 350°. To give as a gift idea, be sure the lid is on tightly, then print off labels on sticker paper (Office Max), place label on front of jar, be sure to include cooking directions, and top with a bow.

CANDY COATED CHOCOLATES GIFT JAR COOKIE MIX

Steps:

• In a medium bowl, stir together the flour, baking soda, salt and cinnamon. In a 1 quart glass jar, layer the ingredients in the following order: Flour mixture, walnuts, 1/2 cup of the mini candy coated chocolates, raisins, oats, remaining candies, and brown sugar. Pack down well after each addition and attach a tag with the instructions.
• Enclose a card with the following instructions: 1) Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease cookie sheets; 2) In a large bowl, cream together 3/4 cup of butter, 1 egg and 3/4 teaspoon of vanilla until light and fluffy. Stir in the contents of the jar until well blended. Roll dough into 1 inch balls and place them 2 inches apart onto the prepared cookie sheets; 3) Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely.

MOLASSES COOKIE MIX IN A JAR

Steps:

• In a large mixing bowl, combine all ingredients.
• Store the mix in an airtight container.
• Attach this to the Jar:
• Molasses Cookies.
• Makes 4 dozen cookies: 3/4 cup butter or margarine, softened, 1 egg, 1/4 cup sulfured molasses and 1 package Molasses Cookie Mix.
• Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
• In large bowl, cream together the butter, egg, and molasses.
• Add the Molasses Cookie Mix and beat until smooth.
• Shape the dough into 1-inch balls; roll in granulated sugar & place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets.
• Bake for 9 to 11 minutes.
• Cool on wire racks.
