My mother-in-law gave me this recipe.

3 eggs
2 cups honey
½ cup milk
2 teaspoons baking soda
4 ½ cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon anise extract

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Beat eggs well. Dissolve baking soda with a little milk. Mix together the rest of the ingredients to make a soft dough.
  • Bake for 8 to 10 minutes. DO NOT OVER BAKE. Frost with your favorite icing.

1 egg
¾ cup shortening
¼ cup water
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 cups rolled oats
1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
½ teaspoon baking soda

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Beat together shortening, honey, egg, water, and vanilla until creamy. Add combined remaining ingredients; mix well.
  • Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 12 to 15 minutes.

1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
1/4 cup corn oil
3 tablespoons sugar
Zest of 1/2 orange, finely chopped
1 1/2 teaspoons orange juice
1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoons baking soda
1 cup, plus 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup honey
3/4 cup water
1/2 cup finely chopped walnuts

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 325 degrees and grease a large baking sheet. In the bowl of an electric mixer or with a handheld mixer, beat the butter and corn oil together until creamy. Add the sugar and continue beating until thoroughly combined. Add the orange zest and juice and mix in. Combine the baking powder and baking soda with 1/2 cup of the flour and beat that in. Add the remaining flour 1/4 cup at a time and mix until a medium-stiff dough is formed, adding a little less or a little more as necessary to achieve the correct consistency. The dough should hold its shape without collapsing. Shape the dough by teaspoonfuls into 2 inch long ovals and transfer them to the baking sheet 1 1/2 inches apart. Bake on the middle rack for about 20 minutes, until just golden. Cool on wire racks.
  • While the cookies are cooling, combine the sugar, honey, and water in a small sauce pan and bring to a boil. Boil for 2 minutes, then reduce the heat so that the mixture is simmering. With a slotted spoon, gently dip the cooled cookies into the syrup just for a moment, making sure all sides are evenly coated. Take extra care to be gentle when handling the cookies or they may break apart. Again place the cookies on the wire racks and immediately sprinkle them with the walnuts, while they are still warm. Dry on the rack for 20 minutes.

2 cups sugar

7-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
3 teaspoons baking soda
3 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground allspice
1 teaspoon ground cloves
2 cups confectioners' sugar
3 tablespoon fat-free milk

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, beat honey and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Combine the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, salt, allspice and cloves; gradually add to honey mixture and mix well. , Shape dough into five 10-in. rolls; wrap in plastic. Refrigerate for 2 hour or until firm., Unwrap dough and cut into 1/4-in. slices. Place 2 in. apart on baking sheets coated with cooking spray. Combine confectioners' sugar and milk; lightly brush over cookies. , Bake at 350° for 8-10 minutes or until lightly browned. Remove from pans to wire racks to cool.

1/4 cup sugar
2 tablespoons canola oil
1 large egg, room temperature
3 tablespoons honey
3/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup plus 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon salt

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, beat sugar and oil until blended. Beat in egg; beat in honey and vanilla. Combine flour, baking powder, cinnamon and salt; gradually add to sugar mixture and mix well (dough will be stiff). Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours., Preheat oven to 350°. Drop dough by tablespoonfuls 2 in. apart onto a greased baking sheet. Bake until bottoms are lightly browned, 8-10 minutes. Cool for 1 minute before removing from pan to a wire rack. Store in an airtight container.

These sugar cookies with honey are perfect for rolling and for cookie cutters. Frost if desired.

3 cups all-purpose flour
½ teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon salt
½ cup butter, softened
½ cup white sugar
1 egg
½ cup honey
1 tablespoon lemon juice

Steps:

  • Sift together flour, baking soda, and salt in a bowl. Set aside.
  • Beat butter in a bowl using an electric mixer until creamy. Add sugar and continue beating. Pour in egg, honey, and lemon juice; mix well. Add flour mixture and mix dough until blended.
  • Wrap dough in wax paper and chill in the refrigerator, 8 hours to overnight.
  • When ready to bake, preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • Roll dough on a lightly floured work surface using a lightly floured rolling pin to desired thickness. Cut into shapes using cookie cutters of your choice. Place cookies 1 inch apart on the prepared baking sheets.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until golden brown, 8 to 10 minutes.

Number Of Ingredients 11

1 1/2 cups corn oil
1 cup unsalted butter, at room temp
2 3/4 cups sugar
1/2 orange juice, and zest of
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
4 cups flour (you may need a bit more)
1 cup honey
1 cup water
1/2 cup orange-flavored liqueur
1 cup chopped walnuts

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
  • Lightly grease 2 baking sheets.
  • In a large bowl beat the oil and butter until creamy.
  • Add 3/4 cup of sugar and continue beating until thoroughly combined.
  • Stir in the orange juice and zest, mixing well.
  • In a small bowl combine the baking powder, baking soda and 1 cup of the flour.
  • Slowly add the flour mixture to the oil mixture incorporating well.
  • Slowly stir in the remaining 3 cups flour, mixing well.
  • The dough should be able to hold its shape.
  • Shape by teaspoonfuls into ovals about 2 inches long and place on prepared baking sheets.
  • Bake for 15-20 minutes or until cookies are firm and just lightly browned.
  • Remove and cool on wire racks.
  • Meanwhile in a small saucepan boil together the honey, sugar and orange liquor.
  • Reduce heat to low.
  • While syrup is gently simmering dip the cookie in for a moment or two, making sure all sides are covered.
  • Remove with a slotted spoon and sprinkle immediately with the chopped walnuts.
  • Dry on a wire rack.
