HOTDISH (TATER TOT CASSEROLE)
Hotdish is an easy, one-dish dinner often served in Minnesota at such large gatherings as family reunions, potlucks or church suppers. Don't be turned off by its humble appearance; the combination of cream of mushroom soup, corn, green beans, beef and a delightful crispy potato topping (the more taters, the better!) is universally likeable.

Steps:
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
- Add the oil to a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onions and cook until soft and beginning to brown, about 15 minutes. Add the beef to the onions and cook until the meat is brown, stirring and scraping the bottom of the skillet to release the yummy brown bits, about 10 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
- Transfer the beef and onion mixture from the skillet into a 9-by-13-inch baking dish. Scatter the green beans and corn evenly on top. Spread the cream of mushroom soup over top and top with frozen potato tots. Bake uncovered for 1 hour; the potato tots should be golden brown. Serve.
BRAT 'N' TOT BAKE
"Our town is dubbed the bratwurst capital of America," writes Jodi Gobrecht of Bucyrus, Ohio. "As a volunteer at our annual Bratwurst Festival, I could not have someone in my family who disliked bratwurst, so I developed this cheesy casserole for our son. It's the only way he will eat them."

- Crumble bratwurst into a large skillet; add onion. Cook over medium heat until meat is no longer pink; drain. Stir in the soup. , Transfer to a greased 13x9-in. baking dish. Top with Tater Tots and sour cream. Sprinkle with cheese. Bake, uncovered, at 350° for 35-40 minutes or until heated through and cheese is melted. Let stand for 5 minutes before serving.

GRANDMA'S MEAT AND TATER HOTDISH
Very good hotdish recipe from my late grandmother that can also be eaten as a meal with a salad.

Steps:
- Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook and stir ground beef in the hot skillet until browned and crumbly, 5 to 7 minutes. Drain grease. Add onion and cook until soft and translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Meanwhile, combine condensed soup, sour cream, and green bean liquid in a small bowl. Set sauce aside.
- Add green beans to the cooked beef and onions; mix to combine and transfer to a casserole dish. Top with sliced cheese and cover with frozen potato nuggets. Pour sauce over top.
- Bake in the preheated oven potatoes are browned and sauce is bubbly, about 1 hour.

- In a large saucepan, combine bratwurst and beer. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat. Cover and simmer for 10-15 minutes or until a thermometer reads 160° Drain and cut into 1/4-in. slices. In a large skillet, brown brats in butter over medium-high heat; drain on paper towels. , Spoon sauerkraut into a greased 13x9-in. baking dish. Top with brats. Combine soup and milk; drizzle over brats. Top with Tater Tots. Bake at 450° for 20-25 minutes or until potatoes are lightly browned., Sprinkle with cheese; bake 5 minutes longer or until cheese is melted.

HOT BRAT AND TATER SANDWICH!
You could call this a German Phily Cheese Sandwich or maybe a German Reuben! :-) Either way its delicious and quite a change from the usual Brat on a Bun. When it's too hot to cook and you don't even want to light the grill, then you need to try this.It's fast and easy.

Steps:
- In skillet over med. heat saute the sliced onion in a little butter until soft.
- Slice the sausage into 1/2 inch pieces (no need to remove casings, they are natural) and add to the onions. Cook to heat through. (Pre-cooked brats are not red-raw looking, but are a pale greyish-white color. If we can buy them in Mississippi, then I'm sure you have them too.) There are usually 4-5 in a package.
- Add your German Potato Salad (do not use a mayo kind) and cook on high to evaporate some of the liquid.
- Lightly toast your bread, spread with a little mustard, opt.
- Place on a microwave safe plate, as many slices as you can fit.
- With a slotted spoon divide the sausage mixture over all the bread slices.
- Top with a slice of Swiss cheese (I like to use aged Swiss).
- Buzz in microwave to melt the cheese or do it under the broiler. I served this with a spicy bean salad.
