HOW TO MAKE COLD BREW COFFEE IN A MASON JAR
Steps:
- Place the coffee filter inside your wide mouth quart mason jar, making sure the rubber gasket is between the filter and the mason jar (this will prevent leaks). Add in the coarse ground coffee grinds.
- Pour 3 cups of water over the coffee grinds, or enough to fill the mason jar up to the top with water.
- Cover with the mason jar lid, and give it a shake.
- Steep the coffee for at least 24 hours. You can leave on the counter or the refrigerator.
- After the coffee has steeped, lift out the coffee filter and let all the water drain out. I like to transfer it to another quart mason jar and let it slowly drip out.
- The resulting coffee concentrate is strong. I like to add another cup of water to the concentrate, which fills the quart mason jar perfectly to the top. This will make a very strong cold brew. You may not like it this strong, and want to dilute it with 2 cups of water or more. You may need to divide among 2 quart mason jars to dilute to your liking.
- Shake the mason jar well before serving since the cold brew can separate. Serve it cold over ice, or heat it up and drink it hot. I love it with my homemade dairy free creamer!
- Will keep refrigerated for at least 7 days.

- Grind your beans coarsely, and then measure out the grounds. This goes directly into the bottom of the mason jar.
- Fill the mason jar with half a cup of cold water, then stir the mixture, making sure all grounds are wet.
- Add the remaining cold water to the mixture in the mason jar and stir again.
- Put the lid on the mason jar and place it in the refrigerator. Allow the jar to steep there for 16 to 18 hours. Remember, the longer the steeping time, the deeper the flavors develop. Overnight steeping is suggested if you want your cold brew first thing in the morning.
- Once your cold brew has steeped, strain out the grounds using a fine strainer or coffee filter. The purpose of this step is to keep grounds out of your cold brew. This is especially important if you've made a large batch, as you don't want to store finished cold brew with grounds in it.
- Your cold brew is ready to serve! Keep in mind that cold brew can taste very strong. Even though it doesn't have any acidity or bitterness, you might still want a more mellow flavor. If this is the case for you, we suggest adding a little more cold water, milk, or half-and-half to your freshly poured cup until it tastes just right.

COLD-BREWED ICED COFFEE
Cold-brewed coffee is actually dirt simple to make at home using a Mason jar and a sieve. You just add water to coffee, stir, cover it and leave it out on the counter overnight. A quick two-step filtering the next day (strain the grounds through a sieve, and use a coffee filter to pick up silt), a dilution of the brew one-to-one with water, and you're done. Except for the time it sits on the kitchen counter, the whole process takes about five minutes.

- Strain twice through a coffee filter, a fine-mesh sieve or a sieve lined with cheesecloth. In a tall glass filled with ice, mix equal parts coffee concentrate and water, or to taste. If desired, add milk.
