Steps:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
- Sift flour and brown sugar into a bowl; stir in eggs. Mix butter into flour mixture until dough is creamy; fold in chocolate chips. Spoon dough onto a baking sheet, keeping them about 3 inches apart.
- Bake in the preheated oven until slightly brown, 10 to 15 minutes. Cool.

- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease cookie sheets.
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter flavored shortening, brown sugar and white sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well with each addition, then stir in the vanilla .Combine the flour, baking soda and salt; gradually stir into the creamed mixture. Finally, fold in the chocolate chips. Drop by rounded spoonfuls onto the prepared cookie sheets.
- Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, until light brown. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely.

CHEF JOHN'S CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES
Crispy around the edges, chewy and chocolaty in the middle, and thin, oh so thin. My 'secret' formula has been adapted from Alton Brown's famous, 'The Thin' recipe, and is fairly foolproof. The only real variable is the baking time, since we all scoop slightly different amounts. And yes, of course you can add nuts to yours!

Steps:
- Whisk flour, salt, and baking soda together in a bowl. In a separate bowl, cream the butter, white sugar, and brown sugar together until mixture is light and fluffy, 3 to 4 minutes. Add the egg, milk, and vanilla extract. Whisk liquids together in small areas around the bowl, then all together to avoid separation.
- Pour dry ingredients into the wet ingredients; stir until flour is thoroughly mixed in. Stir in the chocolate chips.
- Transfer dough to a resealable plastic bag. Refrigerate until dough is firm, at least 2 hours.
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Line baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Scoop out rounded tablespoons of dough and place on prepared baking sheet, leaving 4 inches of space between cookies (about 8 per sheet). Bake in preheated oven until cookies are golden brown, about 12 minutes. Slide parchment and cookies onto a cooling rack for a few minutes. Remove parchment and finish cooling the cookies on the rack.

- Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Stir together the flour, baking soda, salt and instant pudding powder; set aside.
- In a medium bowl, cream together the butter, white sugar and brown sugar until smooth. Blend in the eggs and vanilla. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until just blended. Stir in the chocolate chips by hand using a wooden spoon. Scoop cookies using an ice cream scoop or by heaping tablespoons. Place cookies at least 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheets.
- Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, until lightly golden. Cool on baking sheets for a few minutes before removing to wire racks to cool completely.

- Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Lightly grease cookie sheets or line with parchment paper or a silicone baking liner.
- In a large bowl, sift together the flour, baking soda and salt; set aside.
- In a medium bowl, cream together partially melted butter, brown sugar and white sugar until well blended.
- Beat in vanilla, egg, and egg yolk until light and creamy.
- Mix in the sifted ingredients until just blended. Gently fold in the chocolate chips by hand using a wooden spoon.
- Drop cookie dough 1/4 cup (yes, these are BIG cookies) at a time onto the prepared cookie sheets. Cookies should be about 3 inches apart.
- Bake for 10 to 14 minutes in the preheated oven, or until the edges are just starting to turn a golden brown.
- Cool on baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

HUSBAND COOKIES
Steps:
- Cream together sugar, vanilla, egg yolks, butter (make sure it is real butter), and orange juice. Knead in flour. At least after is stops being so very sticky, do it with your hands. Then you can taste the love. Pat into a ball and wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 1/2 hour.
- Roll dough into 1/4" thick layer. Cut out circles and circles with holes. An empty sweetened condensed milk can works best for the big circle, and the cap from either the orange juice carton or a bottle of soy sauce is the right size for the inside hole.
- Bake at 400 for 10 minutes or less. Cool completely. Melt some chocolate with a spoonful of shortening - that way it is good and runny. Cover half of each of the holey cookies with chocolate, but make sure that you don't get chocolate on the bottom or they will be really fat and won't stack well. Spread each whole cookie with raspberry preserves and sandwich a holey cookie onto it.
