Instant Pot Beer Brats image

Bratwurst cooked with beer in your Instant Pot pressure cooker. No matter the type or brand, they come out perfectly cooked each and every time!

Number Of Ingredients 3

2 Tablespoons olive oil
5-7 Bratwurst
1 cup beer

Steps:

  • Set your Instant Pot to Sauté
  • Once the display reads HOT, add the olive oil and then the bratwurst. Brown on both sides.
  • Remove all of the brats from the instant pot and pour in the beer. Deglaze the bottom of the pot to remove any browned bits.
  • Place a trivet in the bottom of the pot and place your bratwurst on top.
  • Lock the lid in place and push the valve to the Sealing position. Pressure Cook/Manual Setting on HIGH pressure for 7 minutes.
  • One the cooking time expires, allow for a Natural Pressure Release. Once the pin drops remove the lid and enjoy!

1 Medium White Onion, (thinly sliced)
16 Ounces Beer, (or lager/ale of your choice)
28 Ounces Sauerkraut, (drained)
5 Large Bratwurst, (1-1.5 lbs pack)
5 Large Hot Dog Buns

Steps:

  • Turn on Instant Pot using saute function and allow liner to get hot. Add the oil and onions, and saute until onions soften. Turn off the Instant Pot.
  • Add the sauerkraut, beer, and bratwurst. Close the lid and set the valve to sealing. Use the manual (pressure cook) button to adjust the time to 15 minutes. After the time is up, allow a 10 minute natural pressure release before opening the valve to release any remaining pressure.
  • Carefully remove the lid. The brats may have sunk into the sauerkraut, so use tongs to transfer them to buns. Load the buns with the brats, sauerkraut, and your favorite condiments. Store leftovers in your fridge, in a sealed container, for up to 3-days.

Made with beer, onions, and sauerkraut, Instant Pot Bratwursts are an easy and flavorful way to enjoy brats.

2 teaspoons oil (divided)
4-6 bratwursts
1 large onion (thinly sliced)
12 ounces pale beer
15 ounces sauerkraut

Steps:

  • Turn the Instant Pot to saute and let heat until it reads HOT, or for 2-3 minutes.
  • Add in 1 teaspoon of the oil. Pierce each brat several times with a fork and then place the brats into the oil and sear on each side until browned, about 2 minutes per side. Once browned, remove the brats and place them onto a clean plate.
  • Add the remaining teaspoon of oil and onion and saute the onion for 2-3 minutes, or until just beginning to soften.
  • Turn the pressure cooker off and add in the beer, or stock, and use a wooden spoon to scrape up any browned bits on the bottom of the inner pot.
  • Add the brats back to the inner pot and spoon the sauerkraut over the brats.
  • Set to cook on high pressure for 6 minutes. Once the cook time has elapsed, allow the pressure to release naturally on its own for at least 10 minutes.
  • Serve the bratwurst with the onions and sauerkraut on buns with mustard or plain as desired.

5-7 bratwurst, uncooked (regular size, not large deli size)
1 bottle of beer, mild flavor

Steps:

  • Turn on the Instant Pot and set to Saute High.
  • Brown the bratwurst lightly in the butter on both sides, about 2-3 minutes each. You might need to brown these in two batches, depending on how many brats you're cooking and the size of your pressure cooker.
  • Remove all of the brats from the Instant Pot and set asie on a. plate.
  • Place a rack on the bottom, set all of your bratwurst on top of the rack.
  • Carefully pour the beer over the bratwurst.
  • Set your instant pot to Manual or Pressure Cook (depending on your model) and cook for 6 minutes. Once done, do a Natural Release for 10 minutes and then release any remaining pressure. Enjoy!

2 slices bacon
2 pounds fresh kielbasa, sliced into 2-inch pieces
1 medium sweet onion, diced
¼ cup dark brown sugar
3 large yellow potatoes, chopped
2 (16 ounce) packages sauerkraut, drained
1 ½ cups chicken broth
1 apple - peeled, cored, and diced
½ cup beer
½ teaspoon sea salt

Steps:

  • Turn on a multi-functional pressure cooker (such as Instant Pot®) and select Saute function. Add bacon; cook until crispy, 8 to 10 minutes. Pull bacon out with tongs and set in a bowl. Add kielbasa to the pot; lightly brown on all sides, 5 to 7 minutes. Remove with tongs and place in the bowl with the bacon.
  • Saute onions in the pot until soft, 2 to 3 minutes. Crumble the bacon and add to the pot. Stir in brown sugar. Add potatoes, sauerkraut, chicken broth, apple, beer, and salt. Mix gently.
  • Close and lock the lid. Select high pressure according to manufacturer's instructions; set timer for 12 minutes. Allow 10 to 15 minutes for pressure to build.
  • Release pressure using the natural-release method for 10 minutes according to manufacturer's instructions. Release remaining pressure carefully using the quick-release method. Unlock and remove the lid.
