HOW TO PRESSURE COOK CHICKEN GIZZARDS



How To Pressure Cook Chicken Gizzards image

Now you can easily make tender chicken gizzards and hearts with your electric pressure cooker.

1 lb chicken gizzards (sometimes come with hearts too)
1 cup water or chicken broth (more if you want to make it into soup)
Salt to taste
Bay leaves
1 inch ginger slices

Steps:

  • After cleaning the gizzards, place them in the inner pot of Instant Pot. Pour in 1 cup of water or chicken stock (or more if you want to make it into soup). Season with a bit of salt or spices/herbs of your choice if you like
  • Close the lid and turn the steam release valve to "sealing". Press "pressure cooker" and make sure it's on high pressure and set the timer to 25 minutes. When it's done, let it depressurized naturally, about 10 minutes. The gizzards are fully cooked and ready to be used in your other recipes

HEARTS AND GIZZARDS (GIBLETS)

This is a pressure cooker recipe; chicken hearts and gizzards are lightly tossed in seasoned flour, then sauteed with onion and cooked to a tender completion. Serve with tossed green salad and mashed potatoes with sour cream, butter, a little milk, salt and pepper.

1 pound chicken giblets (hearts and gizzards)
½ teaspoon olive oil
1 cup all-purpose flour
salt and pepper to taste
1 onion, chopped
½ cup water

Steps:

  • Rub oil on inside of pressure cooker. Season flour with salt and pepper to taste, then dredge giblets in flour to coat.
  • Place chopped onion and giblets in open pressure cooker and saute lightly, shaking or stirring often. Add water.
  • Following manufacturer's directions for pressure cooker, cook under 15 pound pressure for about 30 to 45 minutes, or until cooked through and no longer pink inside.

2 cup buttermilk
2 tsp hot sauce
1 1/4 cup self-rising flour
1 tbsp salt
1 1/2 tsp black pepper
1/2 tsp paprika
1 tsp cayenne
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1 lb gizzards

Steps:

  • In a bowl mix buttermilk and hot sauce.
  • In another bowl mix self-rising flour, paprika, salt, pepper, garlic powder and cayenne.
  • Marinate the gizzards in the buttermilk sauce.
  • Then cover with the flour mixture.
  • Place the air fryer basket in the Instant Pot.
  • Place the gizzards in the air fryer basket in one layer and close the lid.
  • Air fry at 400 °F for 6 minutes.
  • Open the lid and serve :)

With my Pressure Cooker Chicken Gizzards and Broth you will enjoy the taste and texture of an otherwise discarded part of the chicken, made into a gourmet treat in less than 30 minutes!

1 pound Chicken Gizzards (cut into quarters)
2 Tablespoon ghee
1 medium onion (chopped)
2 cloves garlic (pressed or chopped finely)
1 teaspoon Sea Salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
4 cup Water, filtered
perfectly cooked rice
chives (or scallions)
chive blossoms

Steps:

  • Using the Sautee feature on your instant pot or muti-cooker on high, saute onions, garlic and gizzards.
  • Cook, stirring occasionally until onions are translucent and gizzards no longer look raw, then add in your water.
  • Put lid on cooker and cook at high pressure for 25 minutes.
  • Allow to natuarlly fully depressurize before opening.
  • Serve as a soup or over rice. Garnish with chives and/or chive blossoms. Enjoy!
