1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup whole wheat flour
4 teaspoons baking powder
1 tablespoon white sugar
¾ teaspoon salt
¼ cup butter
1 cup buttermilk

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 450 degrees F (230 degrees C).
  • Combine all-purpose flour, whole wheat flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt in bowl. Cut in butter with a knife or pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse crumbs; stir in buttermilk until just moistened.
  • Turn dough out on a lightly floured surface; knead gently 8 to 10 times. Roll to about 3/4-inch thickness; cut with a 2 1/2-inch biscuit cutter. Place biscuits on an ungreased baking sheet.
  • Bake in preheated oven until biscuits are lightly browned, 10 to 12 minutes.

Number Of Ingredients 6

2 cups whole wheat flour
2 tablespoons sugar (or not, I just like sugar in mine)
2 tablespoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup oil (or use hard margarine...I am just to lazy to cut it all in)
1 cup water (add water slowly to get the right texture)

Steps:

  • Stir together all the dry ingredients and make a well for the liquid.
  • Stir in all the wet ingredients together until it all forms a nice soft ball.
  • Place huge balls of it on your stone (or greased baking sheet if you don't have one) and bake for about 20 min at 375 F until lightly browned.

1/2 cup butter or 1/2 cup margarine
2 cups whole wheat flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon sugar or 1 tablespoon splenda sugar substitute
3/4 cup nonfat milk

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Cut the butter or margarine into the dry ingredients with a fork or pastry blender until the mixture resembles coarse cornmeal. Stir in the milk a small bit at a time, adding just enough so that the dough rounds up and leaves the sides of the bowl. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and roll it out until it is 1/2-inch thick. Then with a 2 1/2-inch biscuit cutter, cut out the biscuits and place them on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes, or stick a tooth pick in the center. If it comes out clean and not gooey that means they are done. Serve hot with butter or jam.
  • Enjoy.

1 cup whole wheat flour
3 teaspoons baking powder
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup cold butter
1 cup 2% milk

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine the first six ingredients. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in milk just until moistened. Turn onto a lightly floured surface; knead 8-10 times., Pat or roll out to 1/2-in. thickness; cut with a floured 2-1/2-in. biscuit cutter. Place 2 in. apart on an ungreased baking sheet., Bake at 425° for 8-10 minutes or until golden brown.
