Small cubes of flavored gelatin are coated with powdered sugar and served as a sweet and dainty snack or dessert.

Yield Makes 60 servings, 1 square each.

Steps:
- Sprinkle gelatine over cold water in 4-quart saucepan; let stand 1 minute. Cook on low heat 5 minutes or until gelatine is completely dissolved, stirring frequently. Add sugar and salt; stir. Increase heat to medium-high. Bring just to boil. Cook until gelatine is dissolved, stirring occasionally. Reduce heat to low; simmer, without stirring, 15 minutes. Stir in extract and food coloring
- Pour into 8-inch square pan. Refrigerate 3 hours or until set.
- Dust cutting board heavily with powdered sugar. With tip of wet sharp knife, loosen gelatine from sides of pan. Briefly dip bottom of pan in hot water; unmold gelatine onto cutting board. Dust top of gelatine with powdered sugar; cut into 1-inch squares. Roll squares in additional powdered sugar. Store in tightly covered container in refrigerator.

JANETTE'S OVEN-BAKED FRENCH FRIES WITH HOMEMADE KETCHUP
Steps:
- To make the fries: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
- Peel the potatoes and cut into desired French-fry size. Place in a plastic bag along with the oil and shake until potatoes are evenly coated. Coat a baking sheet with nonstick spray. Put the potatoes on the baking sheet in a single layer and sprinkle with cayenne and black pepper.
- Bake, turning potatoes once, until golden brown, about 20 to 25 minutes.
- Meanwhile, to make the ketchup: Stir all ingredients together in a small bowl and set aside. If you like it chunky serve as is. If you don't want the ketchup chunky, put ingredients into a food processor to puree.
- When the fries are done, sprinkle with salt and serve immediately with the ketchup.

Steps:
- Melt butter or margarine in heavy skillet. Add slightly beaten eggs. Stir in dates, sugar, salt and vanilla. Cook over low heat stirring constantly until thick and well blended.
- Have ready crisp rice cereal and chopped nuts in large bowl. Stir cooked mixture into them until coated.
- Chill. Put by teaspoonful on cookie sheet. Chill again. When cold roll in crisp rice crumb and coconut mixture or powdered sugar.

- In a large bowl, cream butter and cream cheese until light and fluffy. Gradually add flour to the creamed mixture and mix well. Divide dough into four portions; cover and refrigerate until easy to handle. , On a lightly floured surface, roll one portion of dough at a time into a 10x7-1/2-in. rectangle. Trim edges if necessary. Cut into 2-1/2-in. squares., Place 1/4 teaspoon spreadable fruit or preserves near each end of two diagonal corners. Moisten the remaining two corners with water; fold over and press lightly. , Place on ungreased baking sheets. Bake at 350° for 12-15 minutes or until corners are lightly browned. Cool 2-3 minutes before removing to wire racks to cool.

- Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add dates, sugar, and eggs; cook and stir until mixture thickens and leaves the sides of the skillet, 5 to 10 minutes. Remove from heat; add crispy rice cereal and pecans. Stir cookie dough until well-mixed.
- Place coconut in a shallow bowl. Drop teaspoonfuls of cookie dough into coconut and roll to coat and form into balls. Let cookies cool, about 20 minutes.

Remove from heat.2. Stir in vanilla and KELLOGG'S RICE KRISPIES cereal into hot date mixture. Mix well. Dip teaspoon in ice water, then drop rounded teaspoonfuls of mixture onto waxed paper or baking sheets coated with cooking spray. Roll in flaked coconut, if desired. Chill before serving. DOMINOES - NON BAKE DAINTIES
This comes out of a family recipe box. I've never made it, but it is one of my husband's childhood favourites.

Steps:
- First make the base by placing the margarine, sugar, cocoa, egg and vanilla in a double boiler.
- Cook over a low heat until well mixed.
- Add in the graham crumbs and coconut, then spread and press into a pan.
- For deep squares use a 9 inch square pan and for thinner ones use a 9 x 13 inch pan.
- Beat together the filling ingredients until creamy.
- Spread on the base and chill.
- Meanwhile, prepare the topping.
- Either melt a bar of chocolate with 1 tsp butter or use your favourite chocolate icing.
- Spread on top of the chilled filling, chill again and then cut.
