Cooking Korean food is a passion of mine. I don't know how traditional this is but it has the taste of bulgoki in a burger. Very flavorful!

We're adopting a baby from Korea, so we've been acquainting ourselves with that country's culture and with its interesting cooking also. I think this tasty, nutritious recipe combines the best tastes of East and of West. I serve it with rice, stir-fried vegetables...and chopsticks, of course!

Korean beef bowls are quick and easy to make. The ingredients can easily be adjusted to suit your taste. Serve over warm rice or spiralized vegetables.

Steps:
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add beef and cook, stirring and crumbling into small pieces until browned, 5 to 7 minutes. Drain excess grease.
- Add garlic, ginger, and sesame oil, stirring until fragrant, about 2 minutes. Stir in soy sauce, brown sugar, and red pepper. Cook until some of the sauce absorbs into the beef, about 7 minutes. Add 1/2 of the chopped green onions.
- Serve beef over hot cooked rice; garnished with sesame seeds and remaining green onions.

- Add ground beef, onion, garlic, salt, pepper, and egg into large bowl. Crumble tofu into the bowl with hands. Make sure to get rid of the big chunks. Mix everything well with hands.
- Shape mixture into meatballs using 1 (heapinTbsp of meat mixture. Gently flatten meatballs into 2-inch rounds that are 1-inch thick. Set aside on a sheet pan. Repeat until finished.
- Heat cast iron skillet or non-stick skillet on medium heat. When the skillet is ready, add 1 Tbsp of neutral oil. (The skillet should be hot but not smoking.)
- Place flour in shallow bowl. Crack eggs into another shallow bowl and whisk well. Dredge beef patties in flour, on both sides. Then dip into egg, on both sides.

- Add all the patty ingredients in a large bowl then mix it well. Mold the patty ingredients into a round shape to make patties. (You can store some patties for later use. I normally cook 4 patties at one time. Wrap any unused patties with plastic wrap and put them into an air tight container. Then store them in the freezer until needed.)
- Pre heat a frying pan on high heat. When it is heated enough, add some cooking oil (I used rice bran oil).
- Add the patties and cook both sides on high heat for a short while. Then reduce the heat to medium to low and cook the inside of the patty well.
- In a sauce pan, add the sauce and onion. Stir them around a little bit then add the patties. Simmer them well. (Don’t stack the patties on top of each other. Also, depending on your size of the sauce pan, you may need to do portions of the sauce and the onion and repeat the step so as to simmer all required patties. )
