Use this recipe when making our Spring Cupcakes with Sugared Flowers.

Yield Makes enough for 2 dozen cupcakes

Number Of Ingredients 4

1/3 cup whole milk
1/2 teaspoon dried lavender
3 cups confectioners' sugar
Violet gel-paste food coloring

Steps:

  • Bring milk and lavender just to a boil in a small saucepan. Remove from heat, and let steep 10 minutes. Strain, and discard lavender. Whisk in sugar until smooth. Strain again. Add food coloring until desired shade. Use immediately.

These delicious lavender cookies are a real treat--perfect for tea-time, or for serving out on the veranda with a pitcher of ice-cold lemonade! From The Spice House. Note: Icing amount as written is very generous for these cookies, feel free to reduce to one half or one quarter the recipe, as you like.

Number Of Ingredients 10

1/2 cup butter
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon lavender, crushed
1 1/2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 cups powdered sugar
5 1/2 teaspoons water
6 1/2 teaspoons rose water

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  • Cream together the butter and sugar. Add the eggs, lavender, flour, baking powder and salt.
  • Drop by teaspoons onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for about 10 minutes.
  • While the cookies bake, prepare the icing by mixing the powdered sugar with water and rose water. Drizzle over the cookies after they have cooled.

Unusual and interesting recipes in my collection. I love lavender but never thought it would end up on my plate. "Making Rose Water" recipe was post yesterday.

1 cup(s) granulated sugar
2 - eggs
1 teaspoon(s) lavender, crushed
1 1/2 cup(s) flour
2 teaspoon(s) baking powder
1/4 teaspoon(s) salt
ICING:
2 cup(s) powdered sugar
5 1/2 teaspoon(s) water
6 1/2 teaspoon(s) rose water

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  • Cream butter and sugar, add eggs, lavender, flour, baking powder and salt, blend well.
  • Drop by teaspoons onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake about 8 to 10 minutes.
  • ICING:
  • While the cookies bake, prepare icing by mixing powdered sugar with water and rose water. Drizzle over cookies after they have cooled completely.

2 tablespoons fresh sundried lavender flowers
1 cup powdered sugar
2 -4 teaspoons rose water
4 drops red food coloring or 4 drops lavendar food coloring (or more)

Steps:

  • Mix 1 or 2 tablespoons lavender with 1 cup powdered sugar in a zip lock bag.
  • Let stand for 24 hours.
  • In a bowl combine 1 cup powdered sugar-lavender combination,and rose water.
  • Stir well.
  • Add more if needed.
  • Color with red or lavender food color.
