This is really easy and so very, very good. I like to add a dollop of vanilla yogurt on top of my piece of coffee cake. Yummy!

cooking spray
1 tablespoon flour, or as needed
¼ cup butter, softened
¾ cup brown sugar
1 large egg
¼ cup sour cream
¼ cup vanilla yogurt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup all-purpose flour
¾ teaspoon ground cinnamon
½ teaspoon baking soda
¼ teaspoon salt
2 cups diced Granny Smith apple
¼ cup brown sugar
¼ cup all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons butter
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Spray an 8-inch square baking dish with cooking spray; dust with 1 tablespoon flour.
  • Beat 1/4 cup butter and 3/4 cup brown sugar together with an electric mixer in a large bowl until light and fluffy. The mixture should be noticeably lighter in color. Beat egg into butter mixture. Add sour cream, vanilla yogurt, and vanilla extract to the mixture; beat to integrate.
  • Stir 1 cup flour, 3/4 teaspoon cinnamon, baking soda, and salt together in a bowl; add to the butter mixture and beat to combine into a batter. Fold apples into the batter. Pour batter into prepared baking dish.
  • Mix 1/4 cup brown sugar, 1/4 cup flour, 2 tablespoons butter, and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon together in a bowl using a fork to achieve a crumbly consistency; sprinkle over the top of the batter.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, 35 to 40 minutes. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes before removing to cool completely on a wire rack.

18 ounces yellow cake mix
3 eggs
1 tablespoon butter
1/3 cup brown sugar
1 tablespoon flour
1 teaspoon cinnamon

Steps:

  • Combine pie filling, cake mix, and eggs.
  • Pour batter into a 9x13 inch greased cake pan.
  • For topping, melt butter and mix with brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, and nuts.
  • Sprinkle over top of batter.

3 teaspoons yeast
1 tablespoon sugar
1 cup water, warm
2 cups water, warm
1/2 cup sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1 egg
6 tablespoons shortening, melted
1 teaspoon lemon extract
6 cups flour
1/4 cup raisins
6 apples, peeled cored, sliced
1/8 cup sugar
2 teaspoons cinnamon

Steps:

  • Dissolve yeast with 1 tablespoon sugar in 1 cup warm water; let proof for 10 minutes.
  • Put in mixing bowl 2 cups warm water, 1/2 cup sugar, salt, egg, melted shortening, a little lemon flavoring, and 6 cups flour sifted, and raisins.
  • Few raisins can be added, pressed into dough after dough is in pan.
  • This will not be stiff but sticky on fingers.( this is very soft dough i used pam in pan and n top of dough ).
  • Let rise 2 hours.( this was a little long rise until doubled the temps were cooler in those old farm houses ).
  • Put in two 9x13 greased pans.
  • Using melted shortening in your hand to spread dough after it rises about 1 hour.(again until doubled )punch down
  • Put sliced apples or canned apples on top (I would put cinnamon sugar mixture on now)(. cover with tin foil ).
  • Let rise 1 more hour.( until doubled ).
  • Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 45 minutes until done i had at 425 for 30 it was to fast
  • Remove from oven and cover with sour cream, sugar and/or cinnamon.

These are Czech dumplings rolled out. You cook them in broth. I haven't made or seen them. This seems like a noodle type dish. It might be a variation in Nebraskan Czech community. If anyone knows more about these food.com mail me please.

1 tablespoon salt
2 tablespoons butter
1 3/4 cups flour
3 egg yolks
1 egg

Steps:

  • Boil milk, butter, and salt together.
  • Take off heat; add flour all at once.
  • Add egg yolks and egg one at a time.
  • Stirring this should make a stiff dough.
  • Let stand a few moments.
  • Roll out and cook 20 minutes; 10 minutes uncovered in broth and 10 minutes covered.
  • Another recipe says you can add celery, carrots, and chicken to broth. Keep broth boiling while noodles are in and don't lift the lid until done.

4 1/2 cups flour
6 eggs
1 tablespoon salt
2 tablespoons butter
1/3 cup water
1 cup cubed ham
4 egg yolks
2 cups milk or 2 cups cream

8 ounces egg noodles, optional cooked
ham bone

Steps:

  • Place ham in a food processor.
  • Add flour, 6 eggs, salt, butter, and water to make a stiff dough.
  • Roll out dough and cut into squares.
  • Grease a casserole. if you use store bought noodles cook them in ham bone water and start here.if using noodles cook in ham bone broth until they float
  • Layer ham noodles and cubed ham.
  • Mix egg yolks and milk.
  • Pour over noodles. Dot with butter.
  • salt and pepper
  • Bake until golden at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 30 minutes.

1 ½ cups packed light brown sugar
¾ cup all-purpose flour
½ cup butter, chilled and diced
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1 cup chopped walnuts
3 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
¾ teaspoon baking soda
¾ cup butter, room temperature
1 ½ cups white sugar
3 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
16 ounces plain low-fat yogurt
2 Granny Smith apples - peeled, cored and finely diced

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a Bundt cake pan.
  • To make streusel: In a medium bowl, mix brown sugar, 3/4 cup flour, and cinnamon. Cut in the butter with a fork until crumbly. Stir in walnuts.
  • In a medium bowl, stir together 3 1/4 cups flour, baking powder, and baking soda. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each. Then stir in the vanilla and yogurt. Gently stir in the flour mixture just until blended.
  • Pour 3 cups of the batter into the Bundt pan, sprinkle with 1/4 of the streusel, and layer with apples. Sprinkle with 1/2 the remaining streusel. Pour in the remaining batter, and top with the remaining 1/4 streusel. Lightly pat the top layer of streusel so it sticks to the cake batter.
  • Bake 50 to 60 minutes in the preheated oven, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool in the pan on a wire rack 15 minutes. Place cookie sheet over pan and carefully invert both. Remove Bundt pan, and let the cake cool completely.

2 cups flour, sifted
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup butter (she had SHORTENING here but I know she only used butter or lard)
3 tablespoons water
3 tablespoons cream
8 apples, peeled cored and sliced
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
2 tablespoons butter
1 egg
1/2 cup sour cream (or sweet cream)
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup sugar
2 cups coconut, flaked

Steps:

  • Sift flour and 1/2 teaspoon salt together.
  • Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse cornmeal.
  • Add 3 tablespoons water and 3 tablespoons cream together until blended.
  • Turn onto a floured board.
  • Roll out to fit a 15x10 inch pan; I would use a 9x13 pan. This is a very old recipe and they used different pans back then.
  • Arrange 8 apples (peeled, cored, and sliced,) on dough sprinkled with 1/2 cup sugar and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon.
  • Dot with 2 tablespoons butter.
  • Bake 25 minutes at 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Blend together 1 egg slightly beaten, 1/2 cup cream (sweet or sour), 1/2 cup sugar, 1/8 teaspoon salt and 2 cups coconut, flaked.
  • Spoon this mixture over apples.
  • Bake 20 minutes more 375 degrees Fahrenheit. No temperature was given so I am guessing.
