LOWER FAT FUDGE BROWNIES

Lower Fat Fudge Brownies image

After many tries, I've finally developed a really fudge-y, chewy brownie recipe. Several people in my office are on diets and swear by these. You can use low fat or nonfat yogurt and egg replacers to make it even lower in fat and cholesterol, but the full fat yogurt really adds to the texture of the brownies.

Time 40m

Yield 9

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 cup white sugar
6 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
10 tablespoons plain yogurt
2 eggs
⅛ teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
½ cup all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Grease an 8x8 inch baking dish.
  • In a medium bowl, stir together the sugar, cocoa powder and yogurt. Stir in the eggs one at a time until well blended, then add vanilla and salt. Stir in the flour until just absorbed. Spread evenly into the prepared pan.
  • Bake for 28 to 32 minutes in the preheated oven, until the brownies begin to pull away from the sides of the pan, and a toothpick inserted comes out fairly clean (sticky crumbs are okay). Cool brownies in the pan over a wire rack before cutting into squares. Cover tightly with plastic wrap to store.

LOW-FAT FUDGE BROWNIES

Low-Fat Fudge Brownies image

After finding the recipes for low fat brownies on the Zaar lacking, I decided to create my own recipe. Here is what I've come up with, much lower in fat and still delicious. I've put the molasses as optional, because I've made it with out, but I think it really enhances the flavor. You may stir in 1/2 cup chopped nuts after the last step, but that will add more fat to the recipe. And, you may use two squares unsweetened baking chocolate instead of the cocoa, oil, and extra tablespoon of applesauce

Provided by MissAli

Categories     Bar Cookie

Time 40m

Yield 16 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 9

1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
1 tablespoon applesauce
6 tablespoons cocoa, unsweetened baking powder
1 tablespoon vegetable oil or 1 tablespoon canola oil
1 teaspoon molasses
1 cup sugar or 1 cup Splenda Sugar Blend for Baking
4 egg whites
1 teaspoon vanilla
3/4 cup all-purpose flour

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350.
  • Lightly spray an 8x8x2-inch baking pan with non-stick cooking spray.
  • Beat applesauce, oil, molasses and cocoa OR melted unsweetened baking chocolate (if using baking chocolate, omit cocoa, oil, and extra tablespoon of applesauce) in a large bowl.
  • Beat in sugar.
  • Add egg whites and vanilla and stir until just combined.
  • Stir in flour and nuts (optional). If the batter appears too runny, stir in an additional 1/4 cup flour.
  • Spread batter in pan.
  • Bake at 350 for 30 minutes.
  • Coll and cut into bars.

No Bake Reese's Fudge Bars Recipe image

This No Bake Reese's Fudge Bars recipe is the perfect combination of my two favorite things- Reese's peanut butter cups and fudge!

Provided by Momma Cyd

Categories     Dessert

Time 1h10m

Number Of Ingredients 3

22 Reese's Peanut Butter Cups
3 cups chocolate chips
14 ounces sweetened condensed milk

Steps:

  • Line a 9 x 9 inch pan with foil and spray with cooking spray. Place the peanut butter cups in an even layer on the bottom of the pan. (You should use 16 on the bottom)
  • Place chocolate chips and sweetened condensed milk in a medium saucepan over low heat. Stir until chips and milk are melted together.
  • Once everything is melted together, spread evenly over peanut butter cups in prepared pan. Immediately sprinkle with the crumbled Reese's, pressing them lightly into the fudge.
  • Cool until firm. I like to cool the fudge on the counter until it is room temperature, then cover with plastic and place in the refrigerator to harden completely. Cut into squares and serve.

  • Beat the eggs with the flour or cornstarch, salt, vanilla and sugar just until the texture is even. Don't whip them up.

  • Pour the mixture back into the pot and either set it over a low heat and constantly stir it until the mixture just begins to boil and thickens or set it over the water-bath and stir frequently until the mixture is very hot and thick. Turn the heat off.
