NO BOIL LASAGNA-LOWER FAT

No Boil Lasagna-Lower Fat image

This recipe is a combination of information off the Creamette box for no boil lasagna and my personal preferences.

Provided by Kristen H.

Categories     Meat

Time 1h25m

Yield 10 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 12

4 ounces creamette lasagna noodles (8 noodles)
1 lb extra lean ground beef
26 ounces hunt's garlic and herb spaghetti sauce (1 large can)
1 cup water
2 teaspoons tomato paste
1 teaspoon oregano
2 teaspoons garlic powder
16 ounces 1% fat cottage cheese
1 tablespoon dried parsley
1/2 cup parmesan cheese
1 egg white
2 cups light mozzarella cheese

Steps:

  • Brown ground beef in skillet, drain.
  • Add spaghetti sauce, paste, oregano, garlic powder and water. Stir until tomato paste is mixed. Keep on low heat.
  • In a med. bowl combine the cottage cheese, parsley, parmesean and egg white. Stir well.
  • Once the sauce just begins to boil, remove from heat.
  • In a 9 x12 baking pan, spoon in 1 cup of sauce mix, on top of that put 4 uncooked lasagna noodles (possibly 3 horizontal and 1 vertical). You do not need to make the noodles touch as they will expand while cooking.

  • Cover and bake for 60 minutes at 350 degrees or until the middle of the pan just begins to bubble.
  • Remove and let stand for 10 minutes before cutting.

LOW-FAT NO BOIL LASAGNA

I was inspired by the recipe on the back of the Mullers box. I came up with this low-fat version of the original, but don't tell DH it is low fat, he'll never know otherwise. The secret ingredient is cornstarch this keeps the wateriness (is that a word) out of the fat free cheese.

HEALTHIER WORLD'S BEST LASAGNA

Healthier World's Best Lasagna image

This truly is the World's Best Lasagna! I love this recipe but I am always looking for ways to take out the fat when I cook. I substituted lean ground turkey and turkey sausage for the meat. I also used lite mozzarella and cut out the egg and salt.

Provided by MakeItHealthy

Categories     Meat and Poultry Recipes     Turkey     Ground Turkey Recipes

Time 3h15m

Yield 12

Number Of Ingredients 17

1 pound turkey sausage
¾ pound lean ground turkey
½ cup minced onion
2 cloves garlic, crushed
1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
2 (6 ounce) cans tomato paste
2 (6.5 ounce) cans canned tomato sauce
½ cup water
1 ½ teaspoons dried basil leaves
½ teaspoon fennel seeds
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
12 lasagna noodles
16 ounces ricotta cheese
¾ pound low fat mozzarella cheese, sliced
¾ cup grated Parmesan cheese

Steps:

  • Heat a Dutch oven or large skillet over medium heat; cook and stir turkey sausage, ground turkey, onion, and garlic until well browned, about 15 minutes. Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, tomato sauce, and water. Season with basil, fennel seeds, Italian seasoning, pepper, and 2 tablespoons parsley. Simmer, uncovered, for about 1 1/2 hours, stirring occasionally.
  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  • Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Cook lasagna in the boiling water, stirring occasionally until cooked through but firm to the bite, about 8 minutes. Drain.
  • Spread 1 1/2 cups turkey sauce in bottom of 9x13 baking dish. Arrange 6 noodles lengthwise over sauce. Spread half the ricotta over noodles. Top with a third of the mozzarella cheese slices. Spoon 1 1/2 cups turkey sauce over mozzarella, and sprinkle with 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese. Repeat layers and top with remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese. Cover with aluminum foil; make sure foil does not touch cheese to prevent sticking.
  • Bake in preheated oven until sauce is hot and cheese is melted, about 25 minutes more. Remove foil and bake until cheese is golden brown, about 25 minutes. Cool 15 minutes before serving.

OUR FAVORITE NO BOIL LASAGNA

Our Favorite No Boil Lasagna image

I found this recipe a long time ago on a box or jar, we've made our own additions to it over the years. Everyone always comments on the great flavors and the secret is the sausage- we use breakfast sausage for a great slightly spicy slightly sweet taste. You can use any red pasta sauce that you like- we LOVE a roasted red pepper and onion flavor because it complements the sausage really well. Enjoy!
