1/2 cup whole wheat flour
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup sugar
1-1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1-1/4 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1 large egg, room temperature, beaten
1/3 cup canola oil
1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
1/4 cup honey
1 cup chopped walnuts
ICING:
1 cup confectioners' sugar
2 tablespoons butter, melted
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon water
2 tablespoons honey

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°. In a large bowl, combine flours, sugar, cinnamon, baking powder and baking soda. In another bowl, combine egg, oil, applesauce and honey. Stir into dry ingredients just until moistened. Fold in walnuts., Spread batter into a 13x9-in. baking pan coated with cooking spray. Bake 15-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. , Combine icing ingredients; spread over warm bars. Cool completely before cutting into bars.

Number Of Ingredients 15

1 cup sugar
3/4 cup canola oil
1/4 cup honey
1 large egg, room temperature
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup chopped walnuts, toasted
GLAZE:
1 cup confectioners' sugar
2 tablespoons mayonnaise
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 to 2 tablespoons water
Additional toasted chopped walnuts, optional

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°. In a large bowl, beat sugar, oil, honey and egg until well blended. In another bowl, whisk flour, baking soda, cinnamon and salt; gradually beat into sugar mixture. Stir in 1 cup walnuts., Spread into a greased 15x10x1-in. baking pan. Bake until golden brown (edges will puff up), 10-12 minutes. Cool completely on a wire rack., For glaze, in a small bowl, mix confectioners' sugar, mayonnaise, vanilla and enough water to reach desired consistency; spread over top. If desired, sprinkle with additional walnuts. Let stand until set. Cut into bars. Refrigerate leftovers.

1 c butter softened
2 c packed brown sugar
2 tsp vanilla bean
2 large eggs
2 2/3 c flour
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
3/4 c cinnamon baking chips
1 Tbsp cinnamon/sugar maybe a little more
GLAZE
1/2 c confectioners sugar
3 Tbsp maple syrup
1/2 tsp vanilla

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven 350, grease and flour a 9x13 pan. In a large bowl, cream butter and brown sugar until well blended. Beat in eggs and vanilla. In another bowl, mix the flour, baking powder and salt, gradually beat into creamed mixture. Stir in cinnamon chips. Spread into prepare 9x13 pan. Sprinkle with the cinnamon/sugar. Bake 20 minutes, test until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool. Glaze: In a small bowl, mix all ingredients until smooth, drizzle over top. Cut into bars, serve.
