CURRIED MAPLE-MUSTARD GLAZED MEATBALLS

Curried Maple-Mustard Glazed Meatballs image

A tangy-sweet glaze elevates these mini cocktail meatballs, which come together in 30 minutes flat. The deep sweetness of maple syrup balances the zip and bite of Dijon mustard, which plays off the warm spices of curry powder. Serve these little showstoppers as an appetizer, or enjoy them over brown rice with a fresh side salad for an easy weeknight dinner.

Provided by Jamie Vespa, MS, RD

Time 30m

Yield Serves 8 (serving size: 3 meatballs)

Number Of Ingredients 12

BAKED HAM WITH MAPLE MUSTARD GLAZE

Baked Ham with Maple Mustard Glaze image

Provided by Anne Burrell

Categories     main-dish

Time 2h55m

Yield 18 to 20 servings

Number Of Ingredients 8

One 20-pound bone-in fully cooked ham
1 1/2 cups maple syrup
1 1/2 cups Dijon mustard
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/2 cup dark brown sugar
1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
1/2 cup Worcestershire sauce
Pinch cayenne pepper

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Place the ham in a roasting dish with 1 cup water in the bottom of the dish. Roast for 1 hour and 15 minutes. (Check the ham after 45 minutes and add more water if necessary or tent with aluminum foil if it is getting past a dark golden brown.)
  • Meanwhile, combine the syrup, mustard, soy sauce, brown sugar, vinegar, Worcestershire and cayenne in a saucepan over medium-high heat. Cook, stirring frequently, until the mixture is thick and bubbly, 15 to 20 minutes.
  • If you used it, remove the foil from the ham and slather the ham with the glaze. Return the ham to the oven uncovered. Continue to roast, brushing the ham with the glaze every 15 minutes, until the internal temperature is between 140 and 150 degrees F, another 1 hour and 30 minutes. (If the ham starts to become too dark on the outside, tent it with aluminum foil. We are looking for a dark, sticky, flavorful glaze on the outside of the ham. Use all the glaze! Really slather it on!)
  • Remove the ham from the oven, remove the foil, brush with any remaining glaze and cook, uncovered for another 5 minutes. Let it rest for 20 to 30 minutes.
  • Serve hot or at room temperature.

PARTY MEATBALLS WITH MAPLE GLAZE

Party Meatballs with Maple Glaze image

These tasty meatballs are perfect for your next appetizer party or for game day snacks. A simple glaze and a crumbled bacon garnish will appeal to almost everyone!

Provided by Bibi

Categories     Appetizers and Snacks     Meat and Poultry     Meatball Appetizer Recipes

Time 45m

Yield 14

Number Of Ingredients 15

1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
½ cup finely chopped onion
2 cloves garlic, minced
½ pound hot Italian pork sausage, casing removed
½ pound ground beef
½ cup Italian-seasoned bread crumbs
½ cup chopped cooked bacon
1 large egg, lightly beaten
salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
1 cup water
½ cup Grade A maple syrup
1 teaspoon chicken soup base
⅛ teaspoon cayenne, or to taste
3 slices cooked, crumbled bacon
wooden toothpicks (optional)

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Line a sheet pan with parchment paper.
  • Heat olive oil in a 10-inch nonstick skillet over medium heat and cook onion until softened, about 2 minutes. Add garlic and cook until fragrant, 1 minute more. Remove from heat.
  • Combine Italian sausage, ground beef, bread crumbs, cooked bacon, egg, salt, pepper, and the contents of the skillet in a bowl. Using your fingers, combine ingredients until they are well mixed. Form into about 14 meatballs, 2 inches in diameter, and place on the prepared sheet pan.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until no longer pink in the center, 20 to 25 minutes. An instant-read thermometer inserted into the center should read 165 degrees F (74 degrees C).
  • While the meatballs are baking, make the glaze. Combine water, maple syrup, soup base, and cayenne pepper in a 10-inch, nonstick skillet over medium high heat. Bring to a boil and reduce heat slightly. Boil until reduced by half, 8 to 10 minutes.
  • Remove glaze from heat and allow to cool. Use a rubber spatula to scrape down any syrup that clings to the sides of the skillet, and stir back into the glaze.
  • Place meatballs in a serving dish and drizzle glaze over each meatball. Top with cooked, crumbled bacon and serve warm with toothpicks.
