My Memaw makes this recipe whenever there is a Christmas or Thanksgiving dinner or whenever our family has a get-together. I absolutely love love love it! We use Ritz crackers but you can also use veggies or tortillas or anything! Also: It takes about thirty seconds to put this together but I bumped up the prep time because the cream cheese must be softened.

Number Of Ingredients 6

2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
8 ounces crushed pineapple, drained (don't drain too much)
1/2 cup green pepper, chopped finely
2 teaspoons instant minced onion
1 teaspoon seasoning salt
1 cup pecans, crushed

Steps:

  • Mix together cream cheese, the drained crushed pineapple (I don't think it has enough taste if you drain it dry so I keep it kind of wet), the green pepper, dried minced onions, and seasoned salt.
  • Form into a ball.
  • Roll in pecans.

During the holidays, we all ask Mamaw to make this deliciously different cheese ball. Creating a ring filled with preserves is a surprising and elegant, not to mention very tasty option - savory and sweet together

1 lb shredded sharp cheddar cheese
2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese
2 tablespoons finely chopped onions
2 tablespoons finely chopped green bell peppers or 2 tablespoons red bell peppers
1 tablespoon diced pimento
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 dash salt
hot sauce

Steps:

  • Mix all ingredients together and form into a ball.
  • Serving options for buffet table: Roll in chopped pecans.
  • Shape into a ring and fill ring with raspberry or strawberry preserves.
  • Shape into a log and sprinkle with parsley and paprika.
  • Serve with assorted crackers.

1 large egg
1/2 cup 2% milk
2 tablespoons dried minced onion
4 tablespoons chili powder, divided
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon pepper
1-1/2 cups crushed Ritz crackers (about 1 sleeve)
2 pounds ground beef
1 pound bulk pork sausage
2 cups shredded process cheese (Velveeta)
1 can (26 ounces) condensed tomato soup, undiluted
2-1/2 cups water
1 cup packed brown sugar

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400°. In a large bowl, whisk egg, milk, minced onion, 2 tablespoons chili powder, salt and pepper; stir in crushed crackers. Add beef, sausage and cheese; mix lightly but thoroughly., Shape mixture into 1-in. balls. Place meatballs on greased racks in 15x10x1-in. baking pans. Bake until browned, 15-18 minutes., Meanwhile, in a 5- or 6-qt. slow cooker, combine soup, water, brown sugar and remaining chili powder. Gently stir in meatballs. Cook, covered, on low until meatballs are cooked through, 4-5 hours.

  • Place cream cheese in a mixing bowl and mix until smooth. Add cheese, green onion, Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, parley, garlic powder, oregano and pepper and mix well to combine.
  • Use a rubber spatula to scrape the sides of the bowl and gather the mixture into one lump. Lightly grease your hands and form the mixture into a round ball.
  • Place the pecans on a plate. Hold the cheese ball in one hand and use the other hand to scoop the pecans onto the outside of the ball, pressing them in gently and turning the ball to coat all sides.
  • Cover the cheeseball in cling wrap and refrigerate for about 1 hour to allow it to firm up. Take it out of the refrigerator about 20 minutes before serving to allow it to soften just slightly. Serve with crackers, pretzels, vegetables or anything else you'd love to dip in cheese!
